Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Dear NDT, my heart goes out to you and to everyone who has lost large amounts on this share. All the pain and disappointment is deeply felt and it's likely to knock confidence for sometime. Although I'm not invested here, it's a share I followed. I do understand the deep hurt many of you are feeling as I lost around 30k on a share quite a few years ago. Although my other half was supportive, it took me a while to get over it and I stopped investing for a while. You won't think it now and I certainly didn't but time is a great teacher and that experience was an important learning curve. Although I never forgot what happened, I moved on and you will too.
Take care,
saurus

Afternoon bald_eagle,
Not forgetting our gardens are being infiltrated by entish tree shepherds who interrogate gardeners and sun bathers whilst under the influence of a mind control substance known as 'Secret Soya' #5, to gather intelligence which is passed on to spy masters based in a network of takeaways.
"First they create and spread" .... baked noodles!!
And noodles and soya sauce contain a mind altering control substance
Well done on you profit Mr A. Hope you and yours are well.
I also sold another tranche for 187.48p. Profit wise have done much better with NWG and VMUK over recent months.
Apart from some short term price rises, share buy backs haven't imv achieved what was hoped for.
All the best,
saurus

Afternoon all,
imv banks tend to operate greedy business models so it's no surprise they don't look after shareholders. A large bonus culture encourages wrong doing and is the root cause of many financial scandals. Until that is tackled properly and the punishments increased they will continue. Although bank fines appear large, I read somewhere they usually amount to less than 10 - 15% of profits made from dodgy dealing so there's no real pressure/incentive to stop.
As for share buy backs, I'm not a fan. I've yet to see any evidence of a correlation and consistent rise in share price. What it does do however is further line the pockets of board members.
Like many on this board I've invested in this share over many years and done very well from it. I view it as a yo-yo share and for that reason my approach in recent years has been one of swing trading. Although I currently have quite a large holding, I'm not too concerned with the amount of dividend but appreciate for many who have held this share for a long time dividend payments are very important so it's understandably they feel very let down especially, if they're still underwater.
All the best,
saurus
Fabulous set of results.
Rise in share price will hopefully continue as other UK banks report. Well done everyone for holding on through all the twists & turns and squeaky breaks of a rollercoaster ride!
Cheers,
saurus
Morning Mr A,
apologies for my late reply; experiencing broadband problems.
Very sorry to hear your sad news. Bereavement is one of the hardest losses any of us are likely to face. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Take care and all the very best,
saurus
Afternoon all,
Mr A has stated many times he posts links to articles and sometimes a summary from a wide selection of media sources that provide a favourable and not not so favourable view of Barclay shares; events timetable and anything else he can think of. He puts a lot of time and effort into providing this info and makes it clear he doesn't necessarily agree with the content of some of the articles but does this for the good of the board and to promote discussion.
Many of us appreciate the way he does this and like most reasonable sensible grown ups, don't expect to agree with all the articles or indeed with all of Mr A's views. Differing points of view are exchanged in a respectful way - not the 'pot shot' caustic variety that we seem to have seen a lot of recently on several threads which has resulted, sad to say in fewer folk posting.
Let's try and get this board back to the little gem it once was and collectively challenge the shrills and multiple ID trolls and fantasists with their 'baked noodle' posts and boasts designed to disrupt and lack all credibility.
