Silly comment - so you're not a 'greedy' investor yourself, then, "having made more profit on this one than my current investment"? Investors here and everywhere, for that matter, strive to succeed with their investments, otherwise why bother / take the risk?

upomega - Serica's sp has already risen some 50% over the past 3 months or so (okay it was a long time coming) but it's now happening v a pretty dull mkt elsewhere and, after the H1 figs, I'd expect it to continue.

Next year should be quite stonking for this company if the gas price holds anyway near these historic levels as NewK's guesstimates, while indicative only, in this regard, are a not unreasonable illustration of how undervalued Serica still is.

Ergo, relax / sit back and enjoy; we might well have an inaugural interim divd coming up shortly, too - sasa.

Hi NewK - my "over 3 x gas price today" reference was based upon what they averaged last time from memory (didn't have time to refer back to it before going out) but, no matter, the price appreciation of their principal resource since then is quite exceptional.

Probably no gaggle of takers right now as you surmise but there will be some 'counter parties' who foresee even higher prices in the present climate and the price and sizes on offer will determine that, as usual.

their 'hedging' or 'swaps' now with the gas price over 3 x what it was last year, surely, especially with the extra production coming on stream to boost revenues and the 100% entitlement from BKR getting ever closer.

It'll only take the European pipeline problem to be resolved and / or a mild Winter to be experienced in the event and the gas price will rapidly come off these peak levels.

A 'bird in the hand' currently seems quite apposite to me - no doubt the BoD is monitoring the situation very closely; certainly hope so - sasa.

Whilst a 1.25% tax hike will apply on divd income, I'd anticipate a good deal of 'coupon clipping' to be seen to avoid it, if bothersome, i.e selling 'cum' and buying back 'ex' when it applies in the new tax year - sasa.

It's particularly difficult to gauge the H1 outcome this time, given the raft of variables this year (all positive) so I'm waiting for the interims out shortly to get a better 'handle' on things. Next year should be a bumper one for Serica's earnings / COH etc.,

Interesting observation there, Maverick. Quite possibly, given their cautious approach, etc., and with R3 now up and running / Columbus to be producing in Q4 / BKR 100% revs. only four months away/ gas prices especially strong with Winter approaching, why bother with an acquisition at these higher price levels? After all, they've got enough to deal with right now and will be awash with cash, anyway...

What they might consider doing is introduce an interim divd, too, with the H1 results coming up, if a 'special' is deemed too radical - maybe 2.5p now and a further 2.5p or 3p with the finals next March to reward shareholders - that'll still keep the option of exploiting a neat deal on the table at some point if one presents itself and also fend off an unwelcome / undervaluing bid for them, if the cash isn't required for the time being.

Anyway, it's good to see the sp moving in the right direction at last - sasa.

Having noticed its absence of late, the website shows the NAV being 606p as at yesterday (1/9) so it is currently showing a discount of 8% at todays level, if anybody's interested...

Can only agree with this inexplicable disaffection with most 'goldies' right now, Bananaman - even the quality miners like this one are bypassed in favour of numerous 'zombies' / risky stocks , etc., but sentiment can change very rapidly and they're so many drivers building behind it...

Hi NewK - well, you're obviously more frustrated with R3's progress or rather the long delay in getting it up and running than I am - I can only assume that Mitch and his team know more than us how to bring this huge, as yet unexploited, portion of Rhum into operation but it's en route for production in Q3 as RNS'd earlier.

Yes, undoubtedly extra production would have been had if this significant engineering task had been finished sooner but I don't think that the management should be criticised over their 'modus operandi' to date - had it been a doddle, I'm sure that it would be producing already.

Agree with your PS re: SQZ's rating in your view for 2022 - sasa.

Relax, upomega - your 'blowing hot and cold' over this share every other week it seems can't be good for your health. Just concentrate on the fundamentals here, the much better year we're now enjoying and the upcoming benefits we all know about from 2022 onwards.

Was in the mkts for yonks myself and the maxim was 'the short term dealer is a long term loser' and that was certainly my experience over many years, fwiw...

I knew many long term investors when I was a member of the LSE and they'd made serious sums through doing their research thoroughly and exercising patience until it paid off, whereas I can't recall any trader really making it big through 'ducking and diving' all the time.

Back then, the brokers loved them for their comm generation, of course and although it's much cheaper to deal nowadays, the principle remains true - sasa.
