Dip, I think it was a fantastic bit of business by Shaun. It gives a certain degree of certainty. I think the only way they can sell is if an agreed takeover or other corporate event happens. Not quite sure of the wording, but I think the speeches made by Pacific Trends was very supportive of GGP.

I wonder what it will be this afternoon, when GDP figures for the US are released? Some say they will show the US are in recession. Will that have an effect on interest rate policy and therefore UDSX?

Now that the 5% issue has been sorted, ( whether or not Newcrest take up the option), logically there is no reason for the short positions to carry on.

The fact that they have, can lead me to only one conclusion. That Newcrest want all of Havieron for themselves and will do anything to get it.

Any people sitting on the fence, deciding whether to invest, should think about this and decide if they want to make a decent profit when the bid comes in. ( could be as little as thirty days off, ie , decision to buy 5% or full offer for 30%), or invest for the longer term and GGP raking in the profits from all the gold mined.

Heads you win, tails you win, but make no mistake Newcrest by todays share action have made their intentions clear. AIMHO obviously.
