Excellent, okay so let me ask you, Josh so I forgive me I wasn't able to find it in time but Josh has asked quite a long and complex question but essentially he's saying why are you not land grabbing more of Paterson which would fit into that five-year plan but what are your thoughts on that one?
- well where we are and we continue to so look I think you know we did the Provence transaction early which was good, we have picked up I think some new ground through the pegging system
- but look you know there is you know there's nothing to be announced or anything but we continue to have conversations with people who hold land packages that we have an interest in
- now everyone sees the potential benefit and the size of the prize up there so no one wants to give them away but we continue to work with them and I think our greatest single strength in that regard is our reputation
- I think we're seen as a credible well-managed experienced team when it comes to exploration particularly in the Paterson and undercover, it's our competitive advantage and I think we see that, I think we have a very disciplined approach that I’ve you know described before where we're led by first principles, we understand we'll drill one or two holes understand the stratigraphy reassess that against our modelled expectations and then you know recalibrate reassess redrill it's it's efficient it's high quality it's technical driven and I think we're respected for that
- and you know some of that respect might be seen in the fact that we are still the manager for JURI JV, Newcrest has had the right to take over that JURI management I think for about 12 months now, I think it's a vote of confidence that they continue to trust us with that asset and a number of other assets that they have been in a similar position hey've taken over the manager role even this calendar year so it isn't something that they do lightly, I think it's a vote of confidence in us by a global major in Newcrest who you know are absolutely world-class in this regard
- but I think other organizations in that Paterson also see us as a preferred counterparty and certainly what I would like to do is try to come up with a strategic relationship with some or one of those to unlock value for our shareholders and increase the option value in our portfolio to find the next Havieron, so it's very much in my mind

Who knows?

I would have thought the cheapest way to get an ASX listing would be to takeover another mining company on a share swap basis.

Is it possible Newcrest will issue an equivalent Rns confirming their buying of the 5% stake, before the Diggers and DealersForum?

Rio Tinto have announced their half yearly figures and though earnings are down on last year, they have raised their dividend again.

What effect will this have on Newcrests dividend policy?
Shareholders already complains about spending versus the dividend. Will it have an effect on their decision on the 5%?

Could gold get a little run after the Feds comments tonight?

Hi Bamps. I had to go back into the archives of GGP’s rns history as my recollections were that the drill results didn’t receive too much positivity share price rise at the time.
I had got on board GGP as the excitement on Ernest Giles grew and was disappointed that the jv was abandoned.
I stuck with it as GH decided to drill the target anyway. This was an excerpt from the September 2917 drilling results.
“Meadows Drilling Campaign Highlights

-- Extension of two previously identified large zones of gold mineralisation, including the Western Zone which has been extended to a strike length of approximately 6.2km and remains open to the north, and the Eastern Zone with an extended strike length of approximately 2.5km;

-- Broad zones of consistently anomalous gold were apparent in many holes for up to 40m metres;
-- Twelve of the twenty-five holes drilled returned anomalous gold (over 10ppb) in Archean basement, with highest individual result of 4m at 0.2g/t gold from 232m (ERC061);”
At the time I didn’t think those results were that good, but looking at how shallow the holes were drilled maybe I got it wrong. Also the area of the discovery is very large.

Obviously they cannot compare to Havierons drill results, but Hav is unique in its shape and depth.

If Shaun is excited by EG, then that will do me. Three 5 million ounce targets will keep us all happy if they hit the mineralisation.

I have to agree, it is a great target. Just have to hope they hit the gold on the first set of drills, otherwise could get expensive. It is a vast area.

Dip, GGP did drill an area of Ernest Giles after Newmont didn’t take the jv further and if memory serves me right, used the info gained from Newmonts new ground penitrating equipment(?).

Unfortunately the drill results were disappointing.

So would they go it alone on EG? A very large area with limited funds for exploration at the moment.

What would be the impact of working with another major on a jv project?

Would we have a white knight backing us if Newcrest tried to take Havieron? By that I mean buy us out;0)

Newmont have worked on Ernest Giles and know the potential. To me, they would be ideal partners.

Does anyone know when the 30 day option period to buy the 5% started? We sat he Newcrest report last Wednesday night with the figures of $60 million being quoted, but that figure must have been known at least a few days before to allow it to be drafted into the quarterly report.

Whenever it was known, by now the Newcrest BOD must have had a meeting about it to decide what to do. As other posters have reported so well, the board are under pressure from their shareholders and now with the interviews and podcasts coming from GGP, you can sense that there is a bit of negativity around Newcrest building as a result. For example, read the headline above from LSE … “
Shaun Day hails ‘an outstanding outcome’ as Greatland controversial 5% share stake valued at US$60M.” -controversial 5% share stake!!!

So will they upset the shareholders and take the 5%, spending more on acquisitions rather than on dividends? Will they also send a signal to other juniors that they will do anything they can to get your assets?

The second option is to let the offer lapse. I can’t see that really. Sandeep Biswas is not that type of fella. He has been show to be a bully and wants control.

The third option is a takeover bid for all of Havieron. He still has the problems with his shareholders, but the cost savings would make it attractive for Newcrest.
At what price. Well that is the €64 million dollar question? He doesn’t want a drawn out bid battle and he doesn’t want to allow others into the bidding process. My guess is it would be a reasonable offer, hoping to repair reputational damage, whilst keeping their institutional investors happy.

I respect SAS’s assessment, but think Newcrest can’t afford to risk leaving it too long and I think they could make an offer for the whole of Havieron before the 30 day option is up.

This is only my opinion and Put forward for debate. I could be way wide of the mark, but we only have a few weeks until we know in any case.
