Good day all,
Not much to add to the post from GGIS.
Some details: MarineTraffic uses the AIS signals from ships. The information (Name-IMO number, position, destination, course&speed) come from vessel systems GPS) plus some manual input (destination) and is transmitted via the VHF communication systems on board. The distance of 100 meter between NHD and Southwark is therefore most likely the distance between the VHF and GPS antanna's on both units. This distance has remained the same to the best of my knowledge since the JU-rig came on location some months ago.
The free Marine Traffic data is only available from AIS receiving stations (a lot of them onshore, some on rigs) who receive the VHF data strings. That is all at short distance. MT also has a paid service where AIS data is picked up by satellites. That also applies to this unspecified ship that is close to the northern side Southwark now. Pure guesswork which vessel and what the vessel is doing there. I do not have a subscription (yet) to this paid satellite service.
The AIS system also has a 3rd application: on buoys, unmanned and unpowered structures, etc. the authorities (Coast Guard) can make a data string with the correct position, but transmitted from a VHF system elsewhere (VTS)
And the Offshore Service / diving support vessel Seven Atlantic is still at the tie-in / maniforld where the Blythe & Southwark pipelines are connected to the main Thames export pipe.
Looking forward to the next RNS from the new management to shed some light
Have a nice day
And the SSV Putford Jaguar arrived just now back on location at Blythe. So business as usual there too: personnel back on the platform to do whatever it is they need to do there!
Good day,
The OSV Seven Atlantic left the Southwark location early last week (commissioning & testing of that end of the Southwark export pipeline completed?) and has been working for some days now in a position called KP29 Thames. I assume that this is the tie-in position where the Blythe export pipeline connects to the Thames pipeline.
At Southwark (drilling) business as usual with the occasional supply tun of the PSV Vos Paradise from Great Yarmouth.
And no marine activity around Blythe today, the SSV that was on site last week has left again (but may return any day when people are helicoptered to the platform again)
Have a good day, all!
Good evening,
After the letest RNS from IOG, there still are a lot of unknowns.
Thans GGIS for your expert opinion on the issues below the seabed. Much appreciated!
The RNS also explains why a SSV has been around Blythe over the past weeks; the platform does not have accomodation facilties and personnel has to been commuted by helicopter to be there "just in case".
The fact that at this moment there is no SSV around does not mean anything (IMHO)
Around Southwark business as usual: the PSV Vos Paradise is doing regular gargo runs
And the OSV Sevan Atlantic is sill at the tie-in of the Soutwark export line to the main Thames export pipe-line. Final commissioning is assumed.
GLA, lets keep fingers crossed for a bright IOG future
In the north of The Netherlands (Eemshaven) 2 Floating Storage & Regasification Units (FSRU) have arrived and the first cargo of LNG has been processed.
This project was completed in record time, chartering existing FSRU's from the market and off course the gas pipeline infrastructure from the north of The Netherlands to the rest of Europe was already in place. This area has one of the largest gas fields in the world (Groningen field). Due to serious issues with earthquakes, caused by gas production, the field is shutting down, but the export gas pipe-line infrastructure is still in place and in use for gas import / export and now for the FSRU's import. The link below shows the history of this project.

Good morning,
The SP has gone to a level that I did not think possible! But then again: I am a sailor, not an experienced investor :)
In the meantime a lot of work is happening offshore:
At Blythe the SSV Putford Jaguar is still around (not during the weekend), which indicates that people are working on te platform, most likely commuting by helicopter during the weekdays. All a part of remedial work on previously reported issues? (Chemical injection, water issues, etc)
The Offshore Support Vessel Seven Atlantic is still working around Southwark, assumed to be working on the final testing and commissioning of the export pipe-line (as reported in a recent RNS)
The vessel is now again at the tie-in position of the Southwark pipe-line to the main Thames export line. Last week she was in close proximity to Southwark and spend a day or so further south (could that be near the tie-in of the Blythe export pipe-line to the main Thames pipe?)
And the Vos paradise did her regular cargo runs from Great Yarmouth to the NHD JU rig. To me that indicates that drilling continues as planned, no need for extra cargo runs with well testing / well completion equipment.
Have a nice day and i still hope for a sharp rise in the SP over the coming weeks.
Good morning, the OSV Seven Atlantic has been working for a number of days on the tie-in between the new Southwark export pipeline and the existing Thames export pipeline (some 6 miles south of the platform) Yesterday the vessel re-located to the platform; I assume the final part of the sub-sea work to finish off on this new export pipeline (as indicated in a recent RNS).
Quite impessive to see how much work is needed to install 6 miles of pipe-line: seabed survey, seabed preparations, including cleaning up of debris, the actual laying of the export pipe, sub-sea tie in work on both ends and finally the testing and commissioning.
Near Blythe the Stand-by Safety Vessel Putford Jaguar hes been hoovering around off and on for some weeks now. A SSV is normally not required near an unmanned platform like Blythe. But when the platform is manned (sometimes daywork only and transfer of crews by walk-to-work vessels or helicopters) a SSV is mandatory.
So I assume that work is being carried out on Blythe in relation with some reported issues (chemical injection, salination issues, etc.)
Have a nice day and let's hope for a move north in the SP over the days & weeks to come!
Good morning, there were no updates on marine operations over the past 2 weeks, because nothing worth reporting happened!
Only regular supply runs of the PSV Vos Paradise to the NHD.
Today the Offshore Support Vessel Seven Atlantic has arrived at the tie-in position of the Southwark export pipeline to the main Thames export pipeline.
In a recent RNS it was mentioned that some final subsea work was planned to complete the Southwark export pipeline. So I assume that this is it!!
Have a nice weekend and with all the other LTH and short term holders, I hope for brighter days ahead.
Thanks SpArmada for your further explanation; much appreciated by this Marine ops person
Good morning,
Amidst a mountain of posts ref the latest RNS and the resulting plunge of the SP, offshore business goes on.
Apart from regular supply runs of the PSV Vos Paradise between the NHDeul and Great Yarmouth, no other marine activities at Southwark and Blythe.
So the assumption is that drilling, including fixing the fluid loss during the drilling, continues as planned.
I hope for an undisturbed completion of this well and gas production from Southwark during Q4/2022.
According to the latest RNS, there is still one commissioning job to be done at the manifold between the Southwark export pipeline and the main Bacton export pipe.
Have a nice day.
Over the past year IOG seems to get more than a fair share of Murphy's Law set-backs.
And yes, I also think that the transparancy of operational issues by the BoD needs improving.
But to blame the BoD for all operational set-backs is way beyond me:
- Drilling delay due to mechanical problems on the NHDeul jacking system: **** happens
- Scour issues @ Southwark and subsequent delay in drilling: **** happens
- Excess salinity / water in the Elwood / Blythe production: **** happens
- Loss of drilling fluid at the 2nd Southwark well - **** happens
- Mechanical issues on Blythe / chamical injection: **** happens, especially on a newly designed and installed platform.
And the management team of IOG did resolve these issues and/or are working on solutions right now.
Off course I am not happy with the recent set-backs and the drop in the SP after yesterday's RNS.
But to blame then all on the performance of management (a different or new BoD would have solved or prevented these issues??) is not my thing. I have faith theat the present management and technical teams work hard and find solutions for present and future issues.
In the meantime I will hold on, been here too long, and am confident that in the near future when operational issues are solved and gas is flowing from Elwood, Blythe and Southwark, the SP will go to a level where it belongs.
Have a nice day!
Good evening,
All is quiet / business as usual again in the field.
The JU rig NH Deul is on the Southwark site, drilling & completing the 2nd Southwark production well (I assume)
The pipelay / subsea support vessel Seven Arctic completed her work last night, left the Southwark location and is now heading forDusavik / Stavanger
Again: all part of the greater plan to get gas produced from Southwark during Q4
A new week op the market starts tomorrow; let's keep fingers crossed for upwards and onwards
Brgds
Thank you Aligator !
Good morning,
Amidst all the post about SP, production rumors (or not), here is an update on the marine operations in the field.
Vos Paradise: business as usual with regular cargo runs to/ from Great Yarmout and the JU Rig NH Deul.
The pipelay / subsea support vessel Seven Arctic did a few runs over the recently laid export pipeline from Southwark (survey / inspection??).
And for the last couple of day the vessel was near / at the tie-in position of the Soutwark export pipe-lin with the main Thames export pipe-line. I assume more tie-in, inspection , commisioning work there. And I assume all part of the greater schedule to produce gas from Southwark during Q4.
Have a great & sunny weekend, over here on the Continent it is HOT !
Good Morning,
The Platform Supply Vessel Vos Paradise: business as usual with regular cargo runs to / from Great Yarmouth to the NHDeul Ju rig.
A new workvessel has arrived on site: Pipelay vessel Seven Arctic arrived and has been working yesterday near the tie-in of the recently laid export pipeline to the main Thames pipeline.
At this moment the vessel is near Southwark; I assume more commissioning / survey / testing of the new export pipeline.
And I assume all part of a greater plan to get gas produced from Southwark during Q4.
Have a nice sunny weekend!
Good morning,
At Southwark the PSV Vos Paradise is doing the regular cargo runs to / from Graet Yarmouth.
Drilling business as usual.
The OSV Grand Canyon III spend quite some time at Southwark, assuming tie-in and commissioning work on the export pipeline.
Mid week the vessel moved over to a position some 6 km SSE from Southwark and spend some days there. I assume more tie-in and commissioning work, now between the recently laid export pipeline to the main Thames export pipeline.
The vessel moved away from location yesterday and is heading North.
Again assumptions, but probably another planned milestone in the export pipeline has been completed.
Have a nice sunday.
Good morning,
Around Blythe and Elgood no marine activities are seen: just pumping gas to Bacton i assume.
At Southwark the PSV Vos Paradise did her regular cargo runs between Great Yarmouth and the JU rig NH Deul.
The OSV Grand Canyon III has been working near the platform now for some days. It is assumed to be working on the main export pipeline from the platform to Bacton. Tie-in work, testing , commissioning, etc. Possibly working on the installation & commissioning of so-called Emergency Shut-down Valve.
Since the Piper A disaster it has become compulsary to install ESV's in all export pipelines at some distance away from the platform. In the (unlikely) event of an incident on a production platform, this valve will automatically close to prevent that gas flows back from the export pipeline into the comprimised platform (as it happened on Piper A)
In the meantime in Londona steady increase in the sp, not as quickly as most of us hope, but going north slowly !
Have a nice day all.
SpArmada: The 2 Southwark wells have been carefully planned. So no guesses from my side, only a happy shareholder when sometimes during Q4/22 the 2 wells come online!
Peakview:
The export pipeline from Southwark to the main Thames pipeline was laid some weeks ago. But before it can be used a lot of work has to be done: tie-in to the platform, connect to the main Thames pipeline, testing, commissioning , etc
What I see now is just that: a lot of subsea and later topside work to get this export pipeline operational. And that will be in Q4/22 when both Southwark wells are drilled, tested and producing !
Good morning,
Drilling at Southwark continues and the PSV Vos Paradise did a number of cargo runs over the past week.
The offshore support vessel EDT Hercules has been working near / on the Thames pipeline at various positions. Maintenance and or commisioning of the Southwark export pipeline? This vessel has left location this week and is now in Aberdeen.
Another OSV (Grand Canyon III) has arrived at the Southwark location last night. More commissioning / testing work on the Southwark export line?
Offshore business as usual !
Have a nice day and a good weekend.
