Good evening,
There was very little to tell the past week
Regular cargo runs to / from Southwark and the Noble Hans Deul JU rig.
At Blythe a visit from a PSV with ???? supplies for remedial work?
Offshore business as usual, let's hope that production from Blythe and Elwood will restart asap
Brgds
Good morning,
No news is good news!
The past week saw only a couple of cargo runs with the Vos Paradise at Southwark to and from Great Yarmouth
No other marine activities in the field, both at Southwark and Blythe
The pipelay vessel Seven Borealis is scheduled to lay the last 6 km of export pipeline from Southwark to the main export pipeline. The vessel is now in Rotterdam / Maasvlakte (moilizing for the IOG work?)
In summary: driling continoes at Southwark and Blythe and Elwood atre pumping gas to the Bacton facility.
Have a great week!
Good morning,
Business as usual at Southwark. The PSV Vos Paradise is back from a brief period in Amsterdam (assume annual survey / drydock) and has replaced the Vos Patience again. At this very moment the vessel is alongside for cargo ops.
At Blythe a new supply vessel is on-site. Ocean Marlin, a supply vessel with limited cargo deck space, but suitable for offshore maintenance support. Purpose unknown, could be maintenace work or accomodation for the offshore crew on the platform.
There is quite a bit of survey vessel activity in the area of Blythe and Elwood; again unknown if this has any relation with IOG work.
Have a great week!
Good morning,
At the Southwark location all is quiet and business as usual again.
The suction dredger Alexander von Humboldt left the site yesterday afternoon after 5-6 days of seabed preparation work. I assume that the track for the last 6 km of export pipeline has been cleared of any debrs and levelled for the planned pipelay work.
PSV Vos Patience has done a number of cargo runs to/from Great Yarmouth.
The pipelay vessel Sevan Borealis is scheduled to lay the export pipeline in June; at present the vessel is in Rotterdam.
And around Blythe and Elgood there is no marine activity at present; just pumping gas to Bacton!
Blythe was visited by a supply vessel this week.
Have a nice weekend.
Good morning, it is a nice day offshore, easterly breeze and no waves.
The PSV Vos Patience is on site right now for cargo operations. She has replaced the Vos Paradise; that vessel is en-route to IJmuiden (for a planned survey / drydocking ?)
The suction dredger Alexander von Humboldt did numerous track from Southwark in a SSE'ly direction over a distance of approx 6 km. I assume that the vessel is doing seabed levelling work over the planned track of the to be installed pipeline.
Sand dunes can exist on the seabed, especially in areas of high currents like the Southwark area. And when laying pipe, the pipe should have maximum ground contact and large freespans must be avoided. Such freespans will make the trenching (Burying) the pipe under the seabed) difficult.
There is no marine activity around Blthe and Elwood; just pumping gas to Bacton.
Have a nice Sunday.
Good morning,
Amids the unexplainable drop in SP and all the posts on this subject, the work offshore continues: business as usual.
The PSV Vos Paradise did her regular cargo runs and is in Great Yarmouth at present.
The suction dredger Alexander von Humbolt (Luxemburg flagged and owned by the Belgian company Jan de Nul) arrived in the field yesterday morning and has been working south of Southwark since then.
I assume the vessel is working on seabed preparations for the planned installation of the last 6 km of export pipeline from Southwark to the main Thames pipeline.
Have a nice weekend.
Good morning,
It was a "normal" week again offshore:
No marine activity around Elwood and Blythe, just producing gas!!
And at Southwark a couple of cargo runs of the PSV Vos Prelude to and from Great Yarmouth.
So it is safe to assume that drilling goes on there and will continue for some weeks to come.
Have a great Sunday and bank holiday.
Good morning,
The past week was "business as usual" offshore
Apparently the re-start of the drilling operations at Southwark did happen, but no RNS was required . The PI meeting and the updated presentation on the IOG website did tell enough.
The PSV Vos Paradise did a number of cargo runs to / from Great Yarmouth during the week and is on site again right now.
And Elwood and Blythe are producing gas.
Have a nice week!
Thank you Peakview for your summary of the meeting
It is much appreciated
Good morning,
The JU-rig NHDeul has been alongside and in position next to the Southwark platform since Sunday , April 10.
The PSV Vos Paradise has been quite busy since then: the first batch of drilling equipment was offloaded early last week and since then 2 additional cargo runs to / from Great Yarmouth were done.
At this very moment the Vos Paradise is alongside the rig again for cargo operations.
In the early days of a drilling operation this can be quite a lot of work: getting the rig stocked up with all the equipment needed to start drilling, followed by additional equipment that is needed to continue drilling, maybe even a first set of casing to protect the first 100 meter (Spud) of the well.
And backloading all the equipement that is not needed anymore in the folllowing phases.
There is quite a bit of good information available on the internet to see and understand how a well is drilled and completed.

Have a nice day and GLA
Good morning,
While we onshore prepare for a sunny Easter weekend, it is offshore business as usual.
The PSV Vos Paradise was in Great Yarmouth yesterday to load more cargo for the ongoing offshore drilling operations.
The vessel is alongside the NHDeul at this very moment for cargo operations: drilling equipment and consumables, but also food for the crew on board.
On ships and platforms all over the world the work always continues, workdays but also during Xmas, Easter, etc. The only difference is that the catering crew may do a bit extra for the meals on such days.
Have a nice day and a great weekend!
I concur!
As a LTH I am quite happy to have a bit more patience and see where this one goes over the next months.
Marine Ops update: Business as usual; the Vos paradise was alongside the NHD all day yesterday and is now back in Great yarmouth for the next cargo run.
It is indeed a good Wednesday morning with positive news from IOG
I keep fingers crossed that from here onwards production and drillling and SP things will stay on the bright side !!!
GLA and have a good & safe day
Things seem to be returning to a "normal" offshore drilling operation.
NHDeul has been in position alongside the Southwark platform since Sunday.
Preparations to resume the drilling operation are assumed to have taken place since then, which includes manning up, checking and re-commisioning of drilling and safety systems on the rig and the platform, probably the drilling rig itself has been cantilevered over the platform.
And during this night the PSV Vos Paradise came alongside for offloading cargo and consumables.
All we need now is that RNS to say that drilling has resumed.
The tugs have left the NHDeul / Southwark location.
PSV Vos Paradise is still at anchor nearby and has not yet been alongside for cargo offloading.
And although not known to me, I assaume that all sorts of checks and preparations are ongoing on the rig and platform to resume operations as soon as possible.
Have a safe day.
Correct, and the 2 Multratugs are also on their way back home.
Safe to assume that the pre-loading of the NHDeul was completed and the rig now jacked-up and ready to start the next operational phase
PSV vos Paradise is still not alongside for cargo discharge, but I assume that is just a matter of time
Good morning dunderhead,
Under "normal" circumstances 24 - 36 hours after jacking up the drilling ops should be able to start
But we face other conditions here, lots of things have happened in the past on this location and with this JU-rig, so a whole extra set of safety precautions and extra checks / procedures could well be in place now.
Time will tell, At this very moment the tugs have not yet been released and Vos Paradise is not yet alongside for cargo operations.
Just some additional information about rig-moves:
During a move the weight of a JU rig is kept low; that means that all equipment and consumables (drilling water, liquid mud, most of the drilling string, non-marine crews, etc) is offloaded before the start of a move.
Once back on the new location all of this will have to be loaded again, helicopters will arrive with the drilling crews, etc.
The Platform Supply Vessel Vos Paradise is already on location; I assume fully loaded with all the equipment and consumables to kick-off the drilling operations.
All this takes time, off course - discharging of a vessel, getting the crews settled in, getting all drilling systems up-and-running again. Safe to assume that the start of the drilling operations will take a day or so.
Good morning,
Yesterday morning the weather on-site of the NHDeul / Southwark platform was good enough to start the final move of the JU rig from its stand-off position to the final position alongside the platform.
3 tugs were connected during the morning, the rig was carefully re-positioned and the legs down.
Then the pre-loading starts; the rig is jacked-up just out of the water and all ballast tanks are then filled. This way the integrity of the seabed and testing to prevent a failure of the seabed is carried out.
With the history on this location, dumping a bed of rock under the leg's spud cans , I can only assume that all this takes time to ensure that this time all will be OK and safe. Underwater surveys with an ROV of the spudcans is assumed to be a part of this work
Tugs were released during the evening / night, but are still around; again I assume that the preparations and pre-loading are still ongoing before the start of the drilling operataions.
Have a nice & safe day
Good morning,
The weather has finally improved at the Southwark / NHDeul site, at this very moment 2 Multratug support tugs and the leading tug BB Octopus are alongside the rig, assume they have been or are connecting their tow lines for the final move of the rig to its drilling position next to the platform.
Have a nice (Sun) day
