Good morning,
There is really not much to update: business as usual
At Southwark: the PSV Vos Paradise does her regular cargo runs to the rig from Great Yarmouth
And at Blythe the Stand-by Safety Vessel Putford Jaguar is still hoovering around. Regular helicopter flights to the platform with engineers is assumed.
That's all, no other marine activity in the field.
The real good thing in my view is
Things are hapening offshore, these look to me as planned jobs and rounding up the process to get production up and running again
And the other marine operations on bothe sites: looks like "business as usual" to me.
Regular supply runs to Southwark and NHDeul, BigOrange 18 back in Denmark (well stimulation job done or waiting for the final stimulation work?)
The other vessel near Southwark was doing pipelin burial work, but has also left location. Job done?
And around Blythe no marine ops recently .
Lots of guesswork; I will wait for the next RNS
Good luck all!
A bit of context: Blythe does NOT have accomodation facilities for overnight or prolonged stay on the platform.
Any work carried out there is done by staff & engineers that fly in on a shift basis.
Hence the Stand-by Safety Vessel Putford Jaguar was hoovering around for the last weeks ( A Statutory Requirement for unmanned offshore structures wher helicopter ops are carried out) and I assume that work was carried out on the platform during these weeks.
It is noted that the Putford Jaguar has left location this afternoon, heading back to Lowestoft.
Job done?? Or only a run into port to get fresh supplies while the workschedule on Blythe allows this? Time and the next operational RNS will tell!
SpArmada, it looks to me as "business as usual" The PSV Vos Paradise does her regular cargo runs from Great Yarmouth to Southwark and NHDeul. They need equipment, consumables and food out there ! And the other vessel yesterday at Blythe? Guesswork, but i assume operational supply of tools and gear to get / keep the gas flowing. I do look forward to the next operations RNS though !
Happy New Year to all !
And let's hope for a great year for IOG
Noble Corporation has sold 5 jack-up rigs as a part of its merged with Maersk Drilling. (October 2022)
The recent RNS mentioned the Shelf Perseverance as the drilling unit for the next wells on Southwark and Blythe.
This is actually the same JU-rig, but now with a new name and under new management (Shelf Drilling)
It is exactly like you observed. Vos Paradise has been the designated platform supply vessel for the NHDeul this year, doing cargo runs in and out of Great Yarmouth.
Good morning and yes....still here!
At Southwark the BigOrange 18 is at a stand-off position near the platform.
This week the BO18 started at IJmuiden, NL, was alongside the platform for some time, went to Great Yarmouth (cargo/stores/crewchange?) and was back on site yesterday.
The PSV Vos Paradise is doing cargo work alongside the NHDeul right now.
And at Blyte the Stand-by Safety Vessel Putford Jaguar is still hovering around; it is assumed that personnel is on the platform at regular intervals
Have a great week ahead!
SpArmada: I assume just a cargo run for Horizon Arctic.
It seems a bit too soon for the rigmove, the 2nd well still needs to be completed.
The BigOrange 18 was alongside the platform yesterday and last night, but has moved again to a stand-off position this morning.
Good afternoon,
The stimulation vessel BigOrange 18 is back on the Southwark location after a run into Esbjerg over the weekend (stimulation fluids, crewchange, stores??) The vessel is now in a stand-off position approx 1000 meter from the platform.
Weather on site: the easterly winds over the past week (resulting in low swells) will shift to the North, swell will increase and the total combined waves by tomorrow will be around the 3 meter Significant wave height. Depending on the heading of BO18, that could be marginal for work.. During Wenesday the wind will ease and combined waves (Hs) will drop to 2 meter or less for the rest of the week. That sounds like workable weather to me.
The PSV Vos Paradise is in Great Yarmouth for a cargo run.
And at Blythe all is quiet with a Stand-by Safety vessel still around.
Have a great week.
And hot of the press: BigOrange 18 has left location again, destination Esbjerg.
Loading additional fluids for the hydraulic simulation??
Good morning,
It is quite busy around Southwark / NHDeul. The PSV is doing cargo work on the East side of the HNDeul
And the BigOrange 18 is at close quarters on the West side of Southwark for almost 2 days now.
I assume that the hydraulic stimulation of the well has started.
The weather forecast for the next days is good, mainly easterly wind and waves (so no build up of larger northerly swells)
By Sunday an increase of wind and waves, waves up to 2 meters, but the BO18 should be capable to remain on station in such conditions.
Have a great day.
Dunder,
Most of these 12 days the vessel was in a stand-off position at least 500 meter away from the platform, sometimes closing in and at closer range.
I am no expert in hydraulic stimulation ops, but that seems not realt feasable from a marine ops point of view.
High pressure hoses need to be connected between vessel and platform / wellhead.
But as said: I am no expert in this type op marine ops.
As reported by GG the BigOrange 18 is alongside the platform. The vessel closed in during Sunday night and has been hovering around a bit; sometimes right alongside the platform, then moving off again a bit. She has not been very long in the same spot over the past 2 days.
I assume all in preparation of the actual fracking operations.
Does anybody know how long a typical fracking operation on a typical well like Southwark will take?
Brgds
Good morning,
It is still quite busy offshore:
BigOrange 18 back on the Southwark location at a stand-off position (some 1000 meters from the platform)
Vos Paradise near the NHDeul , cargo operations
Seven Atlantic back at KP29, which is the tie-in for the Southwark and Blythe export pipelines to the main Thames export pipe. The vessel was in Great Yarmouth yesterday; loading more equipment, crew-change, domestic supplies??
The weather on-site: reasonable over the weekend, wind and waves increasing again by Monday evening.
Have a good weekend all!
That sounds like a possible scenario GG.
In the mean-time the Seven Atlantic has been working on the Southwark and Blythe tie-in to the main Thames export pipeline for more than a week, but has left this night, destination Great Yarmouth.
An operations update from the IOG management is highly appreciated; there are indeed a lot of posters on this chat that are very interested about what is happening offshore.
Brgds, Sailor
The BigOrange 18 was on site near Southwark for some days; according to Marine Traffic always at a stand-off position, but here I may have missed something.
Does anybody know how long a fracking operation takes to complete?
Curious to hear.
SpArmada: no educated guesses from my side on this one! Let's wait for the next operational RNS from the IOG management.
Good day all,
Busy days offshore:
The well stimulation vessel BigOrange 18 has arrived at the Southwark location today and is at this momet standing off close to the platform. In line with the last operational RNS she will soon start the fracking work on the first well of Southwark. PSV Vos Paradise is seen alongside the NHDeul JU rig for cargo work. So the assumption is that NHD is continueing with drilling the second well while the BigOrange 18 will soon start with te fracking of the first well.
The Offshore Support Vessel Seven Atlantic is still working on the Thames pipeline at the tie-in / manifold location where the Southwark and Blythe export lines are connected to the main pipeline.
And at Blythe a SSV is still around and a small survey vessel (Titan Discovery) is seen woring around the platform.
It is a beautifull November day offshore (also here in The Netherlands onshore)
Best regards
