Anyway it goes like this: the holy man of the village finds himself stranded on a mudbank with the tide coming in; a speedboat comes along side and he is offered a hand but the holy man says ‘ do not trouble yourself brother the Lord will save me, then a balloon passes low and the balloonist offers his hand, the holy man says ‘ it’s OK don’t worry the Lord will save me’, then a helicopter hovers and he is offered help again, but refuses similarly- then the tide comes in and he drowns. In heaven he meets big G and says ‘ I am a bit disappointed, I thought you was gonna save me’. Big G says; I sent you a boat, a ballon and a helicopter, just how many times must I help you?

Dreamer. There are those that fall through to the very bottom through no fault of their own. However, I have relatives that run a car, have iPhones and holidays who are now in a third generation of never having worked- this is the London area. There are job vacancies that pay reasonable ( to me anyway) such as care home work and other things. They manage economically mainly by breeding. Personally, I have in the past cycled to work to save money and re cycle a chicken into a soup , I also make soups such as lentil etc, I live well too. My relatives have takeaways etc.
In Norway the oil and gas per capita was and is far higher than here, making a sovereign fund possible. Denmark I don’t know about. I have worked sometime two jobs, I did night school and further education to help me move up the financial ladder. For those striving Ihave every sympathy, however,not all are. The Blair, Brown boys created the child credit thing so that even those who had children in another country got more money. When my wife and I had children we did so after ten years when we felt we could afford it. My son is a teacher, my daughter is a teacher in Spain neither use a food bank. My wife works a career, she does not encounter disabled or elderly using food banks.
It is quite often about how you spend money. There are the genuine needy, but Ibelieve there are many who do not wish to work or spendmoney wisely. My first jobs were as a paperboy and saturdays in a factory when I was 13, helped me mumto pay the electric bill. My children didn’t have to do that. Whatever way I look at the world my experience is we are wealthier.

Dreamer, you make valid argument about poverty. However, when it comes to relative poverty in UK, that is not the same as actual poverty. In the fifties and sixties if the adult male in the family could not work through genuine ill health, that was a major loss of income. Additionally, If the female spouse of the nuclear family was not able to work regularly ( or even they could it would be st lower pay); that could give some poverty issues. No heating during the day, if meat was on the table a chicken was rare, a working man would have one lamb chop and more offal ( very tasty too), cheap cuts like breast of lamb were order of the day. Food was relatively more expensive and so was coal against today’s relative energy costs. Even with the main bread winner at work the family would have been extremely poor compared with today’s unemployed. In those days very rare to have a car, no phone ( let alone a mobile), perhaps one small black and white tv, food would be used and not wasted. We used to get given a spoonful of malt at school to prevent Riley’s. Today even the unemployed are far wealthier than the bulk of the working people in the 50’s and 60’s. We have lived in a capitalist society ( the least worst of the systems) but individuals are far better off now than they were: so for the UK it’s working. Loved it, seen it, done it. Not a hypothesis in sight.

There is in fact only £1 in all the world, they only ever made the one. What we perceive as money is in fact just that same pound lent and relent to everyone else. (bearer promising to pay etc is all a nonsense). Which is why I have always advocated a herring based economy; that involves people working and kept fed. The extra oils will also help improve health.

Oldie, I was taken advantage of whilst I snored. So it was nonconsensual biome transfer and Reuben does very little to make him, or his breathe more attractive. To be honest I don’t think it was sexual because he ain’t got any gonads.. I am not from the Norfolk so I reject the inference that road takes. Mind you I have dated some dogs to be fair.

Now when it comes to microbiome I was something of a pioneer. When he was young, me Labrador Reuben used to get his tongue in me gob whenever I fell asleep on the settee. My mate melon used to suffer from asthma when we kids and into adulthood. Now in his sixties he went for a medical. Anyway they bunged in a pigs heart valve and he now no longer has symptoms. The moral of the story is that when you think you know something you probably don’t, in fact you might have the wrong end of the stick. Even pigs with high moral standards become humans in the end. Greed, indolence and ambition lies there waiting for all of us. If we are granted enough wit at birth and circumstances allow for growth then hard work and application can, in the end, lead to some form of security if health permits. Having worked hard you get enough shekels to try using the money to make some money, again there will be circumstances you cannot predict, so you are taking risk on board. Anyway that’s what I have done, ie, worked, saved, invested. This is capitalism, if successful in my practice of it I will have created work for others who can then choose their path and wealth fo myself. Socialism is failing, however, it is through prudent management of capitalism ( the least worst of the systems) that we can fulfill some good socialists works such as the NHS. Ultimately capitalism has to be used to allow for success, if society fails we all suffer. Socialism on its own does not work, there is far too much indolence and expectation of provision by those that are not incapable of work, or indeed birth control. As a lad from a Council estate in the fifties and sixties with Ill parents I understand the need for support, but also the necessity of application of mind and muscle. I know successive generations that do not work, have no intention of doing so, they are also successful at breeding.So I am invested in Wres because that is my socio- political view. I am also a greedy bar steward.
