The difference is very simple, they have delivered on promises and are profitable, POG, can do the same BUT, They need to get confidence back.

Cannaccord Genuity stays at 'speculative buy' on Petropavlovsk

(Sharecast News) - Cannacord Genuity reiterated its 'speculative buy' recommendation for shares of Petropavlovsk ahead of the miner's Capital Markets Day, telling clients that the company's latest interims showed that its operational and financial recovery was continuing.
They key to Petropvalovsk's first half results had been the smooth ramp-up of production at its Pressure Oxidation Hub (POX), so that over 40.0% of the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation was now generated from the refractory ores at the Malomir mine.

It had also allowed the firm to lower its guidance for full-year total cash costs from $850.0-950.0/oz. to $750.0-850.0/oz..

And with a new flotation line being built at Pioneer, the miner would be able to double its refractory ore processing capacity from 3.6 metric tonnes per year to 7.2Mtpa and process increased amounts of third-party concentrates.

The Canadian broker also highlighted the return last June to Petropavlovsk of Pavel Maslovskiy as its chief executive officer, Alexey Dubynin as its finance director and the appointment of three new non-executive directors in the final three months of 2018.

Canaccord analyst Nick Hatch kept his target price for the shares at 12.0p. ( Thats not much of an increase for a supposed speculative buy ??? )

The good thing about this is that its your opinion. Which is fine. I do hope your right. But, I dont beleive the markets trust Pavel and Peter, they have seen the company nearly bankrupted, based on the inability to repay debts and having their hands tied by bondholders.

This led to a highly dilutive rights issue which was underwritten by them, which allowed then to get back "skin in the game" after being nearly wiped out by Peter gambling on the price of gold.

I still believe in this company long term, buy they need to prove, that they are massing cash and will actually be able to start paying off these bonds. Untill them the markets will be sceptical.

I want this company to prosper, and have not sold 1 share since the rights issue and have no intention of doing so any time soon.

Having had a quick scan at work, it seems like positive update. We wont see the benefit of higher gold price for a while yet, Hopefully we can also hedge some in the future at higher prices as well. We should start to see real progress in next 6 months. But, a good start.

I still cant see us increasing the share price markedly, until we start seeing the company amassing cash, enough to give an indication that we can start reduce this borrowing.

Once we can do that we will see share price increase markedly. Personally I think we are quite a bit away from that yet.

Sothic capital may have sold as investors have sold part of their holding and needed to liquidate some of holdings. Better to take money from profitable investment.

I would love to see it happen, but as Kenk and others have indicated, we have the convertable bonds hanging over. They kept the price aroung 8p for years, and I believe this new increased convertable bond will have the same effect.

Pog have not only proved they couldnt repay the bonds, they actually increased them. They need to prove, once and for all they can make and continue to make real profit. Until them the market " will not believe them". The same people took the company to the verge of bankruptcy, we are improving, but a long way to go from a "profitable debt free growing company "

Once they make "real profits " and prove they can manage, and reduce debt. The rest will follow.

The market is very sceptical of them because of their previous track record.

SOLG, TO ME SEEMS VERY LIKE SXX, But not as far on, SXX, Moved up rapidly, but now the financing is taking place and shareholders are being diluted share price has dropped markedly.

I still think POG has very large upside, BUT, not until it PROVES, it can pay off its debt.

Most people on here were calculating that when the first bond matured we would repay it. We actually increased the borrowing and increased the end date.

I do believe we will eventually start repaying these, but What Peter and Pavel have promised in the past, have often not become reality. Time to deliver. But we will not know the full picture for another 5 years.

In your dreams, I love positivity, but we have another bond issue, this will keep a lid on the share price, until the company confirms, that it can start making a dent in it.

Rather than reduce debt last time, we actually increased it, Lets just hope the extra money laid out leads to more profit from the POX hub.

I would LOVE, to come on here, and eat Humble pie, If POG gets anywhere near even 20p in next year,

But, I cant seeing it happening in the short term.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, lets get this debt pile reduced first. My opinion only.

Just a pity, we didnt get this upgrade before we changed the bonds, as would have got better terms, although, its probably because of that and other things, such as POX HUB, that they have improved the rating.

It is NOT a bad thing. Just need to start processing the third party offerings and making some extra profits, to reduce debt.

I think the big thing here is earnings and dividends. Once Pog sort this out, we can start moving upwards, and it will be rapid.

Amazing how they can buy so many shares and the price goes down, Maybe another RNS with somebody selling later on today or tomorrow.

Lawrence13, Cant remember exactly, but I think it was soething like 17.6 to 1 , No doubt someone will give us the exact ratio, so using that with your 32.45 that would give a share price of about 14.5p. Personally, I think the company is in a much much better place now, even though I think the rights issue should have been done when POG, was at a much higher price, and would have been doing it., in a position of strength rather than the way it was done.

But Pog have had a highly dilutive rights issue since then so that price is not really relevent.

Can you not get it up to £10, Might start to recoup some of my money at that price.

I think it just relates to convertable bonds being purchased.

Probably to replace the previous convertable bonds
