JKX looks very good, but it didn't go up at all yesterday, certainly not 10% !!
That was short lived.
Looks like I might get my wish !!
Thanks for the nod Danawinner !!
A quick bit of research, liked what I read, and bought in, and blue already. Hopefully won't go up too much more as I am going to do some more research tonight and top up again tomorrow.
Many thanks.
I have had one experience of a majority shareholder, I think 48%, in an AIM company with dual listing. Urals Energy (UEN) - admittedly trading in Russia, so should have known better. Looked good though, making money and paying a divi, so I bought a few. The majority shareholder/director starting giving out "loans" with the company funds to various people (perfectly legal in Russia) who in turn, were buying shares to take his majority over 50%. Other directors (UK) found out, started kicking off, next thing NOMAD resigned, and then company de-listed from AIM. Basically the majority shareholder got the rest of the company for nothing - and nothing we can do. Lesson learned - no majority shareholders and no Russian trading (or Kazak) for that matter.
The market cap is only £133m, not £214m.
I like the sound of the last reply, that there is an order being filled. Could be right, and they don't want to up the buy price for fear of attracting more buyers, anxious to get in before the rush.
Fingers crossed.
That I can buy at 57.225p and sell at 57.26p ? And I just bought a few so its real.
Not a lot of difference, I know but selling price is cheaper than buying price.
Bully - you really should be doing your own research - look at company presentations and watch some of the interviews given by Paul Baay.
There are many wild speculations about the size of the prize - I think the talk of 1tcf of gas of gas refers to Casca, Casca Deep and Chinook if these are successful. Then there is Royston to follow next year which Paul has big hopes for and about 28 other drill locations identified for further down the road, presumably smaller, but who knows?
The best research is your own research !!
Fantastic - can't wait !!
Happysparrow - you referred to Oil man Jim comments re paid rampers trying to get the sp up before a placing. I have seen his comments re PPC and paid rampers. I have no doubt that goes on with some companies.
However, if you think about it, I don't think he can be right. Who would pay the rampers? Presumably the company. And presumably, if its the company, it must be sanctioned by the directors?
But in this case, we all know the sp went up quickly to 2.5p, followed by a conversion of loans by PL and Trafigura, and book placing to shareholders. But why would PL (and Trafigura) do that - because the higher the sp the less shares they get, so they would be working against themselves.
Anyone got any comments?
Article barely scratched the surface. Whoever wrote that article clearly doesn't read the LSE boards. Pity they didn't ask us for some input.
Warren Buffett once said "the stock market is a place for transferring money from the impatient to the patient" - or something like that. Never a truer word!
We've talked about the big seller in the background before, North, but I am starting to think there may be a buyer in the background now, hoovering all the sells up. After all, a big rise yesterday on nothing, and today looking remarkably solid.
Any thoughts anyone?
If you look back over JS comments on TXP (google Josef Schacter Top Picks Touchstone Exploration) you will see that he said that this share was his smallcap exploration share, and it could be anything if successful with the drillbit - that was when we were starting out on the Ortoire road. Tuck them away.
To be fair to the guy, Canadian oil and gas stocks have been hammered over the last few years, for a variety of reasons, even more so than the rest of the world. I think he has taken a more conservative approach in his tips as he has had the backlash of a few callers on stocks he has recommended, which have fallen markedly because of the market, not that they are not good companies.
He has repeatedly, for the last couple of years been tipping Touchstone, as his exploration smallcap.
However, he seems to have forgotten that Touchstone operates in Trinidad at Trinidad prices and demand.
It cant be on yet, its only about 7am over there - you might be watching a previous month. I think hes on about 12 noon Canada time.
Google "Market Call on BNN" - I watch it about 6pm, not live, but only an hour or so after recorded. The whole programme is usually about 50 mins -it is split into modules if you don't have time. I like to listen to his whole take on the industry. He hold TXP himself.
Canadian oil and gas expert, Is on BNN Market Call today. He might have some comments on TXP !!
Well done - not many left on this board now.
I have decided to hold now at least for the medium term. Most of the Canadian oilers, and presumably US, have recovered substantially all of their losses, and so IMO, the massive write downs will soon be reversed, and the NAV increased substantially. Some commentators say the oil price will be $70 by year end.
