In the Czech Republic, there are lithium deposits in the Cínovce area in northern Bohemia, which make up approximately 3% of the world's reserves. The implementation of the deep lithium mining project, which is now in its exploration phase, will have a synergistic effect with other possible activities related to the battery chain. Attractive investment conditions in the Czech Republic attract further investments in follow-up operations based on advanced technologies with a high share of innovations. The implementation of this unique project will clearly have positive impacts both locally and
regionally at European level. Due to the expected rapid development of electromobility, equipment for the production of Li-ion batteries will be a significant industrial benefit for the Czech Republic and, in addition to the contribution
to technological development will have a direct positive impact on
socio-economic growth of a specific place of project implementation. The battery industry is one of the high value-added industries.
It is based on advanced technologies and it is assumed that scientific research activities will mean a further shift in the quality of batteries in the coming years, especially in terms of increasing their energy density. In the future, therefore, close cooperation is expected with representatives of higher education and scientific institutions in the region, which will create job opportunities not only for researchers, but also for master's and doctoral students. One of the most tangible benefits of the project is therefore the direct creation of more
than one thousand skilled jobs and up to hundreds of new jobs indirectly affected. The EU's commitment to become the world's first carbon-neutral economy by 2050 marks a fundamental change in its current set-up
industry at EU and national level. The EU is therefore putting in place systemic measures to help transformation, mitigate the impact on the most affected regions and support further economic growth by opening up new market opportunities. Industrial restructuring will mean the development of new and alternative technologies
such as batteries and their associated value chain. Thanks to its geographical location, favorable investment conditions and strategic lithium reserves, the Czech Republic has the opportunity to build this value chain and may become a major player in the international battery market in the near future. The use of lithium reserves as a strategic raw material is a crucial step in this direction and the implementation of the lithium deep mining project will contribute to the transformation of the economy, create new job opportunities and ensure further direct and indirect investments in the Ústí Region.
