You are correct, about 90,000 postie's and many already work less than 35 hours a week. With the sww reduction given as a pay rise which is pro rata so as I pointed out, his equation is way off.

Many employees are part-time and don't get the reduction in hours so your figures are way off. The idea was that through mechanisation and smarter working plus the drop in letter volumes the overall hours needed would be reducing anyway over time and productivity would rise. It can be achieved.

I think the trading update can only be an improvement so should give the SP a boost.

37 hour week in October is the agreement. Regarding SA rate although it's more than basic pay it doesn't attract shift allowance or a paid break so for a night shift it's probably not much more or may even work out less, although I don't know the rates. Anyone?

They will bring some 4 day duties in and even some 3 day duties, as it makes sense with the reduction in hours, but they won't be compulsory. Some postie's will have family commitments like picking the kids up from school etc.
