OilGarch, ok let's take your figures. 31.3% of letter volume in December that's 68.7% over the other 11 months. Divide the 68.7% by 11 and we have an average of 6.25% per month. Now if Christmas didn't exist and December was just another month then letter volume would be the average of 6.25%. 12x6.25%=75%. So because of Christmas volume increases by 25% which I wouldn't call an over whelming amount. But that is not what I said. I said "Christmas doesn't contribute an overwhelming portion of yearly PROFITS it's just the icing on the cake" so although turnover increases 25% I assume more postie do overtime in December, indeed I hear that some only do overtime in December. You get your Christmas bonus. More cost such as extra fuel for transport and then there is all those extra thousands of casual staff employed. Additional profits for Christmas were actually around £50m last year, hardly an overwhelming portion of profits, more the icing on the cake. As I said.
