Good morning everybody - “Top of the morning”.
Well afternoon really but who cares.
On my way to the beach yesterday for my swim and passing my local retail parking couldn't believe I really was that sad that I used to call in get a Greggs meal deal and sit outside the Card Factory scanning what was going on.
Got my life back now and although still invested have downsized my holding (at a loss) and balanced my portfolio.
The turning point which you will all have a laugh at is the cashier (whilst I was I thought discretely hiding behind a large plant observing) sticking her tongue out at me - it was definitely me because nobody else was there! Ha ha I was mortified and have never been back Ha ha
Still believe in the Card Factory but cannot stand the way they treat their on line Customers constantly blaming them for known problems with the App.
I have been promised so many times by the Management that it is going to get updated and nothing. Goodness only knows what happened to the ERP Implementation?
Anyhow still heavily invested so this isn’t a deramp it’s just an honest appraisal of how I currently see it.
Hope everyone is well.
Great post Morbox and well spotted.
In the current world of just about everything going up in value does anybody think our ships have?
I bought a Van last year and couldn’t believe that the same one this year is 20% higher?
Also my Motorhome which I bought about 3 years ago is now being advertised £10 grand more than what I paid!
How much is a new ship these days?
Ok maybe I’m scraping the barrel here but they must be worth more? Ha ha
Oops try again

Thanks Alnwick appreciated.
I have added your observation to my notes and reordered them in date order.
Pretty grim reading tbh especially when you realise that the share price would have to get to £24.36 to reach the £3.1billion the Company was valued at back in 2016? Wow.

Oh and just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons ….
When the PE offer of 33p was made there was 1,122,003,328 shares so they offered £370.0m.
There are 139,594,769 shares now so the same offer today would be £2.65.
My research notes and the reason I am back in!
These figures are accurate (IMO) but should only be used as a guide.

This is a big game everyone here knows that (or should do). When I decide to jump (back) into a share I try to go big (for me) because there is nothing worse than going in small to see it increase massively. Done that here and did exactly that with DDDD a few weeks ago on a Tuesday and it went into administration on the Friday - lost the lot. (£45 grand OUCH).
Hopefully that won’t happen here.
Morning Jedclampit yes I’m trying to balance my portfolio a bit because I was too heavy with Card - lost a fortune.
Most prob going to lose another fortune over here ha ha
Me too. 3 x £20 grand @£1.56 ish.
Couldn’t resist. Hopefully I can pull back the £5 grand I lost on these recently.
Morning guys well I’m on the side lines here after selling my kids shares in Saga (29 and 31 so hardly kids anymore ha ha) at a big loss but you may recall I was there stood next to the Spirit of the Rhine a few weeks ago.
There was some seriously heavy tug boats pulling huge barges laden with what looked like coal up and down the river.
Our boat did look impressive compared to the other cruise barges but.. very quiet.
I’m wanting back in here but where is the bottom and what is the catalyst that’s going to turn this round?
Well done accipiter!
Everyone here wishes they had done likewise of course and it’s great when that happens.
Really chuffed for you mate - perfect timing.
Thankyou Pmoran1969 what a lovely post!
Yes, I’m as honest as the day is long and would never (intentionally) encourage anybody to buy anything without doing their own research.
I’ve enjoyed my time here in Card but with an average of 60p have only ever lost £ and the recent drop from 65p to 45p has been awful!
Currently Sat with a paper loss of over £100K !!!!!
Sold a chunk in the 60’s to buy Wrks but they have gone down more!
Sold a few more to buy 4D last Tuesday and they went into Administration on Friday!
Card is still my largest holding and it is still substantial.
All in all it hasn’t been a good few weeks but hey ho I genuinely believe that if you have got your health you really are a millionaire hence the reason I do triathlons.
The Ironman is the big daddy of them all, 2 1/2 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26 mile run.
Everyone here here is capable (health permitting) of doing one.
Check the link out below.
This man is my hero and the person who inspired me to do my first Ironman last year and I’m in my 60’s.
When you pass those pearly gates have a story to tell guys.
https://youtu.be/Ik8KO2Os7k4
Disappeared? I wish! I’m an addict Ha ha
I’ve been busy training for the Bolton Ironman, it’s this Sunday and I’m absolutely sheritting myself! OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!
Also trying to spend less time on these boards and my retirement time sat outside Card Factory shops!
Morning guys thought I would share my story.
Back in the dot com boom bust as a young man with very little money and 2 small children in tow I stupidly got involved in the Stock Market.
Had no money but everything had crashed and was so cheap so I borrowed 10 grand from the bank (didn’t tell the wife) turned it to 40 grand quickly so greedily borrowed another 10 which quickly went to 84 and then lost the lot.
Lost the shirt off my back and vowed I would never touch the SM again and didn’t know where to turn.
The first thing I had to do was tell the wife which wasn’t easy but it was the best decision.
She reminded me that it was only money and we still had the kids and our health and she used the phrase “if you have got your health you are already a millionaire” which was the first time I had ever heard it.
We are still together today and she is still the love of my life.
My advice to anybody here who has lost either everything or more than they could afford to is to use this opportunity to get out now and don’t look back.
Don’t for one second think you can get it back because you will just lose more.
Covid got me back in and as it happens by complete fluke (Avct) I am doing well but this game is so addictive and I often say that the only way out (and get your life back) is to lose everything.
I wish you well though whatever you decide and yes it is only money.
Morning Banbury Noooooooo!
I didn’t get out if DDDD!
£45,000 and almost 300,000 shares bought on Tuesday/Wednesday at an average of 15p and on Friday they went into Administration!!!!!
Totally my own fault and all driven by greed so nobody else to blame.
Why am I ok about it?
Because I only ever gamble what I can afford to lose.
Major lesson there guys if you are a Newbie to all of this.
In hindsight wish I had just left it all in Card and Wrks though but hey ho life goes on.
For a bit of lighthearted relief…
If you were somehow magically given the option to go back and SELL your shares today just before suspension for roughly 16p would you?
Or
Would you await the outcome of the suspension and take your FATE?
Option A SELL.
Option B FATE.
No brainer for me.
RoxburyHouse FATE.
Hi CrustyPete,
£45 grand I put in on Tue/Wed average just over 15p.
If everything loses everything then it doesn’t really matter what their average is does it?
My point is still the same.
I’m excited! Red/black Red/black.
Gut feeling is that it will be good news.
Got to be positive guys and if it’s bad then all they take from anyone here is money.
If you have got your health you are already a millionaire and no one here can take that from you.
That’s how I live my life.
Ps I only bought in on Wednesday - Got to laugh!
What will be will be and in a 100 years it won’t matter. {smiley face}.
Does anybody else get a warm feeling when they step inside a Card Factory shop?
It’s instant and although I don’t actually buy anything because it’s not my thing (wife’s area) I just like what I see.
I’m totally frustrated with their on line offering and lost count how many times I have complained about it to Head office and nothing ever changes but they are a well oiled machine when it comes to their shops.
The shops is where they make the money and I keep hoping one day they will employ someone to sort out the on line mess and when that happens this share will jump.
Hi Ehtefaznaser nice to hear from you and hope your wife is well.
Hi Lorenzo you could be (and most probably are) right that a recession is “nailed in” but you could also be wrong.
The masses think you are right so I automatically chose to think the opposite.
I can’t help it. My investment strategy is to do the opposite to everybody else and it’s based on the fact that everybody can’t make money in this game.
A lot of people have to lose £ to pay for the few people who make £ so you have to think “outside the box”.
Just jumped into DDDD and bought a big chunk at 15p this week. Based on nothing but gut feeling but everyone was selling so I bought. If it comes good I will be ploughing it all back into Card.
Ps Never understood when people say that they will only buy a share when it gets to a certain price? If you are going to buy then buy and average down every couple of pence? Otherwise you could miss out on the inevitable (IMO) rise?
Each to their own though and good luck.
