The successful results indicate the potential of Affimers to be exploited in diagnostic imaging as molecular probes for imaging CEA expressed by tumours. Introduction of a single cysteine residue in the C-terminal and His8-tag region, distant from the antigen binding site provides an extra advantage in theranostic applications potentially allowing tumour imaging and delivery of therapeutic agents in a single molecule since the Cys thiol group permits easy attachment. Increased expression of CEA in serum after tumour resection normally correlates with tumour recurrence and metastasis. The ability of Affimer to bind to soluble CEA suggests another use of Affimers as affinity reagents in anti-metastatic therapy. Finally, immobilization of biotinylated Affimer onto streptavidin coated chips in SPR analysis demonstrate the possibility of Affimers as biorecognition elements in the fabrication of biosensor devices for CEA detection such as electrochemical biosensors for the development of point-of-care devices.

Lol - phase III study represents risk. If we knew the outcome then the study wouldn't be needed. If you don't recognise that then you can delude yourself that you are 100% confident in the share - count chickens, pursue car catalogues, fantasise etc.

Does the SP at current values represent a balance of risk and return. Clearly the market thinks so but they have probably got access to all sorts of experts and advice.

Avacta Expands Rapid SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Test Manufacturing Capacity



Manufacturing agreement with Abingdon Health for Avacta's rapid COVID-19 saliva test

Avacta Group plc (AIM: AVCT), the developer of Affimer® biotherapeutics and reagents, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Abingdon Health for the manufacture of Avacta's saliva-based rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen test as part of its ongoing expansion of manufacturing capacity.



Avacta, in partnership with Cytiva, is developing a rapid test strip for use with patient saliva that aims to provide a result in a few minutes, indicating whether the patient is currently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The test has the potential to be used for frequent mass testing of the population to promptly identify infectious individuals so that they can be isolated and treated, thereby reducing the spread of infection.

Avacta recently announced a manufacturing partnership with BBI Solutions to develop and validate a scaled-up manufacturing process for the rapid coronavirus antigen test. Avacta, Cytiva and BBI are in the process of technology transfer of the prototype and related manufacturing procedures for the
test. Avacta aims to begin clinical validation of the test as soon as possible using the first pilot batches.

There is never a timeline when you need one. The Innovative test has been through all this including porton down plus the follow on clinical validation.

I might have missed it but is there an aptamer test out there. I don't know about aptamers but affirmers are at least 15 years old and Mabs which account for £Bs even older. Not sure being newer but not validated is an advantage

I'm invested in affirmers, not aptamers but some MaB companies.

Yep absolutely valid. In reality anyone of those three could head up the consortium. HMG might go with the ones with the most experience and core logistic competency?

CS Actually we have had this discussion ever since Avacta announced the tie up with Cytiva.

Who's test is it. The final product manufacturer or the reagent manufacturer.

The model you propose isvAvacta contract someone to make their test. The alternative is the test maker buysvaffimers to put in their test

Didn't think we know the answer hence the thought sovereign = avacta. I'm just saying there is an alternative and in my view more likely scenario. Hence the SP waiting for news.

Im not sure my comments are that out of step with the share price though. You will know there are people who post distortions of the truth - the current idea that sovereign = avacta is just the latest.

Avacta have some interesting tech - it is why I invested. To be honest I thought they would go down a biosensor route (tend to be better S&S) but hey I got lucky and they went LFD.

I'm now in a place where I get to look at the box with the dead or alive cat in it. If A act a are involved I hit pay day. I don't need to convince myself they will be anymore than a reagent supplier - if they are even better but I don't think they have the people, the kit or the basic competence whereas others do. Just a view - not sure it is negative just not rampy day dreaming.

Avacta make reagents - hell I will go even further. Avacta would like to make reagents.

To date and please correct me if I am wrong they have never made an LFD. They haven't even made the reagents for an LFD - they got close with Zika virus but by the time they took off the white coats that situation had passed them by.

Now put yourself in the position of the govt. Who would you approach to develop and manufacture the final product. Let's make it easy and give you a choice of two Abingdon orbAvacta.

I'm guessing the highly experimental is Sir WaffAl has told us the lab result under perfect conditions but hasn't updated us since.

What Wiggly said. I'm thinking the assumption Avacta test = Sovereign test is risky but possible.

My punt is HMG have gone to organisations who are British and know how to make these type of tests in bulk. Those companies have identified potential reagent companies eg Avacter and Aptamer. Both reagents will be tested - I am not sure if there is a meaningful difference in performance. Guessing both are in testing at present.

So avacta can step outside UK. In fund raise they did mention increasing LFD capacity - they may even have recruited. However RK (holy pancakes Batman) says tooling and machinery is in short supply so may not happen. Hence tie up with non UK partner may be key. Cytiva very quiet.

Are Avacta a manufacturer of LFDs - I get the full whack bit and utilizing capacity but is that Avacta or are they just going to supply raw materials - indeed if they are the chosen binding reagent?
