2018 Avacta Group plc (AIM: AVCT), the developer of Affimer® biotherapeutics and reagents, is pleased to announce that it has agreed a co-development partnership with Bach BioSciences, a company commercialising the research of William Bachovchin, Professor of Developmental, Chemical and Molecular Biology at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. The collaboration will develop a new class of Affimer drug conjugate therapies with a novel mode of action that combines Avacta’s Affimer technology with drug conjugates developed at Tufts.

Toronto-based pharmaceutical startup Point Biopharma Inc. plans to build a $25 million cancer-drug manufacturing facility on the indianapolis northwest side. This is the company Avacta just signed deal with to make radiopharmaceuticals.

In June, Advanced Accelerator Applications SA, a subsidiary of Swiss drug giant Novartis AG, announced plans to build a drug manufacturing plant at Purdue Research Park near Indianapolis International Airport. The plant will produce radiopharmaceuticals for cancer treatment.

Like the debate - agree with Ghia for most of it.

Data time date is just not sufficient to determine whether it works - the statistics do not prove it works. Therefore phase 3 is required.

These other drugs went into phase 3 well before - they did the work, they got a result.

As people have pointed out, anyone getting these drugs will did so after they have received SNG001. First line vs third line treatment.

Shows that going after the disease process rather than the virus is valid strategy. There are other drugs out there (anakinra) which are similarly repurposed and we might hear news them to (if not in this trial - will check)

I'm thinking if we imagine avacta has two companies.

Tx and DX. Can then put a valuation on both. Risk increases the further out from launch and industry is full of preclinical products that never make it or never make a life cycle break even. Avacta are in slightly different position because based on existing proven molecules. America would value thus higher but my own take is Tx is now worth £30M + £40M (preC and fund raise 80%). Rest is DX

Good point about Sequora Tiles and Paint. They put a joint valuation of £1.20 and they would have wanted a discount. Until news its going to bob about here and then go rapidly like very rapidly one way or the other. If down I'll hold and put faith in Tx will come good but that approach is probably not recommended by experts who cut their loses. That lot probably haven't spotted Avacta yet though

Interesting RNS but long long way to go. Strategy of building on existing therapeutics but making them better derisks to a large extent but Avacta still relying on third parties to do heavy lifting. This product will have to go through same development pathway that Avacta struggle with. I'll get a bit more excited when they appoint heavy hitting head of clinical development and/or new CEO.
