I appreciate your reply but I don’t really see how it differs to mine yet you just call it a conspiracy theory.

The government are not stupid, they know a worldwide recession is imminent yet they slap a 25% extra tax on oil and gas when Labour only wanted 10%.
For starters this will decimate investment which sends the price higher not lower.
Secondly they are telling you to reinvest your cash into something they know could be half the price or less by the time that investment is even producing, encouraging you to spend or get taxed to oblivion.
When the prices get obliterated they will say these company’s should have put cash aside to weather these storms.

The real saving at the pump would have been fuel duty cut and that would have been an immediate clear cut saving to everyone pockets and actually helped the economy.

You guys are seriously telling me you think these people are too thick to work this out and this is a genuine mishap?

This is my point the windfall tax doesn’t appear to be such a bad thing IF you reinvest. Do we really beleive oil prices can sustain these levels without the economy falling off a cliff within 2 years to see a return on those investments? I don’t, it’s already propped up by government hand outs and robbing Peter to pay Paul.
In a normal environment I wouldn’t be so negative on a share buy back but right now sentiment is very off and everyone knows it if their honest with themselves and that’s why we are seeing funds trimming their positions or in GIC case dumping their positions.
People with investments in the red only hear what they want to hear and this BB is full of them.
I’m heavily invested here and nursing a heavy loss right now so I want this to succeed as much as anyone but I have to face facts and say it as I see it not how I want to see it.

Secondly you have appeared that last couple of months, some of us have been here years with PMO with promise after promise and nothing delivered. Oil is $125 FFS and your on here patronising people about patience? Wind your neck in.
The markers are jittery because of reasons you and many others on here refuse to accept, the government is not acting with the interest of the people and capatalism no longer suits their plans for the future.

Lastly, What do you expect a share buy back to achieve?it will be A temporary rise that will get sold into and you can bet your bottom dollar anyone short will have a heads up before it’s announced, we will get a nice spike, and then they will reopen all their short positions and run it right back down.

One more thing, if the government really cared about cutting the cost of living they would do something like reduce fuel duty substantially, not a 5p cut like throwing you some crumbs to keep you happy. Instead they increase oilers tax that will reduce investment and maintain a price higher for longer- more wealth transferred, more people dependant on them and UBI.
