RE: Why Taylor Wimpey?24 Apr 2021 02:48
@johncut
Taylor Wimpey have a history of paying exceptionally good (and well covered) special dividends, which, when added to their standard dividend, historically make them a higher payer than their rivals. If you want to build a balanced portfolio of blue chip holdings, that pay good dividends, then having a house builder in there makes perfect sense.
All companies go through good and bad patches (for a multitude of reasons) which may affect their market cap and their yield. Companies can even go under, with little or no warning. Keeping a balanced portfolio is a hedge against fluctuations in the fortunes of different sectors and different companies.
