Well who knows but in terms of being a civil engineering contractor...
You win work (generally) on a process that if it isn't lowest price its an assemblage of factors where lowest price is weighted highly in the decision process.
Large jobs =large quantities=potential large upside=potential large loss.
When tendering such you convince yourself that you have seen some saving the others haven't=put some clever words in that others haven't=you're just better than the others. If you cant do that you're not a contractor and you wont win any work.
OR you say you have a new strategy that gives great returns with less risk...well we'll see about that wont we?
Personally I would love them to do jobs like that, and deliver on time and early and make a decent return. Cos big civils is my history, my world. They should be in it.

As i've said before id prefer different personnel but remain convinced that we will see a return on our investment here, albeit I think it will get taken out at below what we may be hoping for.

Agreed, and play nice boys-you'll confuse the recovery play seekers that are going to be turning up here shortly.
All of a sudden we have a fixed cost for two shiny new ships with no income, turning into a big lump of margin by late spring, adding to what is likely to be a good insurance result.
I have no clue what the price will be come next week or next month, but i'm sure that when those ships slip anchor the price wont be beginning with a 1 or a 2...

A good group of people there from what ive seen. Hope it works out in the end, but tend to agree it will be a buy rather than former glories. Too cheap for someone to miss out.

Talking in terms of MC is fine. That's how I like to keep track of the value of a slice of a cake..
Its good that LSE charts maintain the ACTUAL share price on a given day in comparison to others that back plot their view of life after dilutions and consolidations (and cant actually tell you what their numbers are based on)which paint very misleading pictures for someone new to the stock..should be an FSA matter imho but they dont care!

With respect RH, most on here know exactly where the post COVID price was sitting ie in some weeks double your 12p and in any case as per the chart above this post. It was never sitting around 12p.

Further perspective for the benefit of people who haven't gone back, you could also add two more values after 401.
After the IPO the price was 200 ish and then a period at 100. ie MC £2bn and £1bn, the price being knocked down by goodwill write offs and debt.
For longer term goals and all that...

I am intrigued by the UAE boys. The word on the street is they are headhunting for positions not required to just own a holding in Costain. SO they are going to do something, question is what?

The 33p offer (according to Skynews at the time) was conditional on due diligence. ie they wanted to go through the books. Ie it was a teaser offer based on the public domain information. SO it wasn't really an offer as such...The Board declined, and were right to do so in my opinion.
In my experience the consortium would have gone in and come up with a whole load of issues. The positives would have been played down and filed away for the future and the negatives played up and 33p would have become something else. That's the game. Get inside and knock it down.
Now of course Sky may not be correct re due diligence being the reason but in my opinion you cant use 33p as a benchmark no strings offer.
