I wonder what the board would consider acceptable for the non-defence divisions? I assume they'd be looking at individual buyers for each division?

Treasury share purchase was back in September (thought it was later), so already reflected in interim cash position I assume.

Pharmall - inventories have obviously affected cash-pile, but could it also be the cash that was used to buy treasury shares (I dom't know how that is formally accounted)?

Huge jump there compared to last year, onviously why the cash pile is down.

OK, so I was right about divesting the non-defence operations. Tested the waters in the Spring, recieved interest but no acceptable offers. Essentially, a for sale sign on those businesses, but they're in no rush. Interesting to have that hanging over shareholders, as I'm sure there would be a special divi on the cards should it happen...

You could always go to the final day for 20 quid John, if it goes that far (usually does at the Oval, good pitch).

I was looking at recent tender notice for the German Navy. Link below is from a German trade press article, which you can auto translate, where the author is promoting MSi as the best candidate. I was looking at the criteria, and wondering if MSi have capacity for such a big contract? 75 units? Obviously it's phased delivery, but that's a lot. Hoping that the 'strategic review' involves steps to significantly increase production capacity anyhow.

Out of interest, did you stay in RC Fornax after that pretty shocking 'trading update'? Only a small holding personally, but I took a quick profit there before it came out, fortunately. Don't think I'd be tempted to buy back in currently.

Off spinner, and late order slogger. Played at school and age-group reprsentative level, but never really kicked on after that. Did well at the top-level of the recreational game, but was as far as I got. Premier league club cricket was a lot of fun though; you get to play against/with a lot of pros, either youngsters on their way up, or old timers on their way back down.

I've watched a fair bit at Surrey too John, was a member there when I lived in London, loved watching from the pavillion. Was working a shift pattetn at the time, so would find myself with whole weeks off on the trot. Happy days!

I'd forgotten what a good 'day out' a day at the cricket is - have spent most summers abroad for the last decade or so (used to be a member of Lancs and Surrey), so reduced to following on cricinfo. My playing days ended around the same time in the Middlesex league. Shame Bumrah isn't available for the whole series, less of a contest without him.

I read that the German Navy has just put out a large tender for upgrading their close-defence systems to 30mm calibre. Given MSI already have a contract to supply a certain amount of systems of this sort, it should bode well.

Main things for me in the interims and AGM: orderbook (more interested in this rather than purely H1 revenue, as it's a lumpy business, although the stockpile in inventory in the last FY accounts suggested a lot going on); have they sold anymore of the land-based systems? They've been hitting up all the tradeshows and expos and mention of 'a lot of interest' etc, but I want to know if any of this interest has been converted to actual sales. We know the Jordanian Airforce have bought some systems, and there was an initial supply as part of an aid package to Ukraine, but otherwise we're in the dark.

John - Test match was good fun. Watched the first 2 days and stayed overnight in Leeds, and then schelped back over from Cumbria to watch the last day chase for 20 quid. Glad I did!

Talking of such, have a look at the price action at Renold on the day they announced buyout interest from private equity intraday, and then again on the afternoon before they RNS'd the recommended cash offer. Bent as a £6 pound note.

Same here, John, can't abide the old letch. I follow live on the radio, and then watch the highlights later on the box or youtube. Should be going to the last one at the Oval as wel, mate's got me tickets. Hopefully we've either won by then, or it comes down to the wire.

I've had some absolute turkeys and rough patches along the way, but in the long run with some good fortune it's worked out. I think also being single and working since I started investing, I've been able to be patient as I haven't had other financial pressures (mortgages, kids, divorces, credit etc).

Didn't realise the AIM was knocking on 30! I'm no expert, and it clearly has problems, but there have been a lot of success stories for all the dogs and malpractice too. I've ridden my luck on it and managed to buy a house out of it, so will always be a bit nostalgic about it.

In fact, one of the very first shares I ever bought, in my early 20s, is about to get bought out by private equity and will be saying goodbye to the index:Renold.

SP's going 'gangbangers', offer nibbling 13 quid. Ordinarily, I'd be tempted to take some profit, but we're in the build up to FY results and (hopefully) some news about a structural review of the company, all hopefully positive.

Me neither John. I have a rudimentary knowledge of the industry and MSi's niche in it, but I'm not able to make comparisons with competitor's products.

Have you been to Mello before? A friend used to get freebie tickets, but I never went.
