....if SG had stuck to the earlier plan (if I remember correctly), started mining by initial development to enable LHS from the start, built up production more slowly to P1, then built up cash to fund a later expansion to P2, we might not have been in the current situation. The hare might be attractive, but the tortoise is more certain.

According to bottom of p2 of the RMS, SG is celebrating your birthday with a blast! LoL!

CAF 1 and 2 were likely in an area of greatest confidence/grade and convenience to the main adit access. Likely that LHS1 will be also. However, there is a need to have enough working places to enable resource management, so as to mine lower grades when volume is high and POG is low and the converse to sustain income. Easy said for the gold mine I was once at with 300+ working places, but much harder at a far smaller mine.

Bismark, the answer to, "I've no idea why they're not digging up much gold ATM." is in the RNS. For whatever reasons, CAF was completed/stopped before LHS was ready, leaving just two development headings to produce and one of them ran out of grade, leaving the company vulnerable. Development must keep pace with the need to provide the next stope in good time.

Andrew, The resource estimate was as good as you are likely to get from anyone, short of turning the mountain into a pin cushion. That said, veins by their nature, will swell and narrow, become richer and poorer in 3D, often over shorter distances than the drill pattern. For example, at a mine where I once worked, nearly a score of surface boreholes revealed as many different seam conditions. The best efforts of interpretation could not resolve the final truth when mining had started, that all the various conditions where found within 1km of the shafts.

Geology, like medicine, is an imprecise science, but get it right and the patient will recover.

The only failure is to not trade shares as best you can, but instead sit on them.
If you sit on them long enough, they will s..t on you.
This from one who has doubled his small stake over 10 years of more gains than losses (including SGZ), but is now out of shares and into dotage. LoL!
Not a lottery win, but better than a cash ISA.
SG still interests me and will pull around IMO, but Champion will not be overworked on the Tyndrum Branch of the SW canal any time soon.

Would it also be a bit rude to ask why the productive CAF was not continued and LHS development was not completed before LHS was ready? Resource management springs to mind.
