Leeds-based developer Eshton has received planning permission for a 196-space car park at its Springwell 27 scheme at Birstall, Leeds, in a move which will pave the way for Ocado to expand and potentially create more than 120 jobs.
The car park, which has been pre-let to Ocado, is the final phase of development at Springwell 27 which is already home to the online grocery retailer's 10,500 sq ft regional distribution depot.
The creation of the car park will facilitate Ocado's expansion at the eight-acre business park, following its deal with Morrison's to distribute its online products, and will link directly to the existing building via an access ramp.
Between 120 and 130 new jobs are expected to be generated by Ocado as a result.
