That’s the strange thing?
The company is doing incredibly well and is bursting with positive news - staff all talking about it!

The advertising side of the business is also very resilient to inflation.
No real inflationary costs (except limited labour) and media budgets usually just rise with inflation - certainly that’s what happened historically but it’s been a while since we had real world inflation.
Don’t understand the fall.

There is no buying interest!
Derisory liquidity not helping.
Results should be excellent but that’s 4 wks away.
Difficult to know what stops this especially as I don’t understand what started it?

That’s a tad cynical.
I used to mix with a few financial journalists.
The papers do vary.

Brian Roberts (Comcast/Sky) and John Malone probably made it up over diner- they are mates.
They both win from the story.
It increases Sky’s leverage over BT and for Virgin Media it damages the valuation of their arch competitor - WIN WIN.

The whole story in the Telegraph was fanciful for two overriding reasons
1. The cost of Virgin Fibre would be greater.
2. Offering Virgin Fibre to Sky Customers would completely undermine the existing Virgin Media customer proposition - it would turn Virgin Media into a premium price BT offering nothing more for the premium.
The story as written(by VM) was never credible and just designed to damaged their competitor(BT).

I do think it will be enough to turn it round.
It’s amazing how John Malone/VM continuously feed stories to the Telegraph to suit their ambitions.
The Telegraph will frankly print anything.

Remember the business is flying way ahead of pre-covid numbers!

I firmly believe that no one can keep this share price down indefinitely? - even JM.
So it either gets bought or rises under its own steam.
The real question to answer is why are we at this price point now?

But then I never believed the the ITV share price would drop to 203p last week!

It’s probably a ‘red herring’ now as I strongly suspect the Channel 4 decision will be pushed into the long grass - maybe 2022?
I don’t think ITV will still be independent by then.

John Malone is the controlling shareholder of both Liberty Global and Discovery Communications.
May 2014 Channel 5 sold to Viacom - Discovery bid for Channel but Viacom paid more.
July 2015 Liberty Global buys the eventual 9.9% stake in ITV from BSkyB.
May 2021 Discovery Communications and Time Warner (part of AT&T) announce merger.
July 2021 Liberty Global lobby UK Government to allow a merger between ITV and Channel 4 should the Government decide in favour of Privatisation. Discovery Communications also rumoured to be interested in acquiring Channel 4 but immediately strongly denied by Discovery Communications.
The common thread is John Malone and his team.

Anyone found a reason?

They are not lending them out for shorting purposes so what’s the issue?

Not unusual and does not normally mean anything.
They are stable long term investors trying to get a return for their investors.

I would be content with a few pennies on the share price!
It seems to be in spiral downwards?
Every time it rises a few pennies towards any moving average it drops again.
Difficult to know at the moment if it’s an ITV issue or a FTSE100 issue given recent UK weakness.
