All I can see is increasing investments costs such as new infrastructure or acquisitions that more than offset any potential to increase profits.

Me too. Surely it'll recover from the precipitous drop as it's a good company whose services will always be needed.

The downtrend is around 20p p.a. so 90p by this time next year.

Difficult to see how the discovery of the new variant warrants a near 7% drop in Lloyds.
I'd be tempted to add were it not for the paltry dividend which is not going to increase in the near or even medium term. Interest rates are gonna stay low for a long time.
I recall selling Lloyds nearly 20 years ago for 450p.

At the time of my posting yesterday a temporary glitch on LSE showed the Ask was 90p - which I thought ironic given my fear of a drop to that level. The current level looks tempting, but this share has a way of stuffing people. As I've often said, look at the long term trend and then ask yourself if it's sensible to invest here. I'm holding on in case I'm wrong and it recovers to around 130p when I'm then out. Fat chance.

If I read it right there's been a lot of buying this week and more buys than sells today. However, there is a general sp decline probably due to uncertainty over the split. All I know for sure is that it'll decline more if I top up.

The new variant only came along to stop us getting to £3. No other reason.

Despite my antipathy towards VOD this looks like a buying opportunity for enthusiasts. The only downside in theory is reduced roaming charges if the world freezes again. But if VOD fortunes are significantly based on roaming charges then that explains why the SP is so fragile. I'd add except for my long held belief that 90p beckons.

Unprecedented drop. How can the new virus affect K3C so much? It could be just an opportunity to mark it down as interest was waning on a somewhat overhyped share.

The Ask was 90p on here at the time of posting. Of course it was false and anyway the market was closed. Perhaps it was 90p briefly for some clandestine investors...

Looks like you can buy for 90p atm so I was right all along.

This only seems to happen on the HL site.

I don't go for automatic dividend reinvestment because the brokers bundle up all the buys and the market gives them a high price on the day. It is of course a racket. Best to hold on and reinvest between the XD dates.
I've made a note to add if it drops back to 1550 or so.
