Yes, you are right, this deal won't happen until Q2 2010 and the offer from Ruukki for 18 odd SLV for 1 Ruukki share doesn't reflect the current value or potential of Sylvania (the same could be said of BRR). There is also uncertainty regarding SLV/BRR/JLP/Ruukki and their intentions; will it all be sucked up cheaply? are their other bidders in the running? Also Ruukki isn't currently tradeable on any UK market which although is purely an administrative issue adds another layer of bureauocracy to the deal especially as they plan to start out on the AIM and then transfer over to the FTSE. Added to this I feel generally that there is a good chance that we are currently experiencing the tank that was expected back in May and possibly going into another unstable share price situation. This was to be expected as IMO we are nowhere near the 'green shoots' position the Govt keep telling us were are at! Having said all of that SLV is an excellent company and I have kept a small holding for the time being and I shall be looking to top up when I feel it has levelled out. Whether I call it right will be my risk and I could miss the boat but whilst there is this uncertainty I feel SLV could drift and my money is safer off the market. I think that if there is a danger its of a suspension in a good way, as per China Gold where there are a number of deals on the table so the share is suspended to prevent volatility, that is what it will be. I believe someone mentioned that possibility over on JLP yesterday. If you're in its all good, I suppose? Mrs T ;-))

Hello Chaps, Granite, I can't see those 500k shares making any difference to the price of fish. A couple of trades went through at that level today and made little difference. Tom, I wonder if they could suspend trading as you suggest when there is so much notice of what is going to happen. Surely there will be a cross over date and one day you'll have SLV shares on the AIM, then next day they'll be Ruukki shares on the AIM and then a couple of months later they'll be Ruukki shares on the FTSE. I don't think they could justify a suspension. Anybody else have a view? Mrs T ;-))

Re yours of 5.58am.... Granite Tims article of 6.33am answers your question. They speculate that once the deal is done early 2010 Ruukki will be listed on the AIM and then moved within a couple of months to the FTSE 250. So I am assuming they are looking next Spring time. Mrs T ;-))

Thank you for posting those articles..both make very good reading. Its clear that Ruukki are the vehicle Samancor are using to hoover up this whole ferrochrome/pgm mine to sale operation. I think a couple of interesting questions arise from this... The market doesn't seem all that impressed so far with £1.05 from Ruukki and there is similar lack of positive sentiment over BRR too looking at the SP. Long term by merging SLV's operation, the Mogale DC furnace tech as well as the Conroast BRR DC tech will cover all the bases for this operation to become a big FTSE 250 listed player but.......... 1. Are Ruukki trying to buy SLV (SA Metals and Great Aus included) and BRR too cheaply? 2. For the SLV deal they have to wait for the TO of SA and Great Aus to go through first (up to 12 weeks) but Ruukki aren't exactly flush with cash.........is this conveniently giving them time to find some coppers down the back of the sofa? 3. Do we think the long term benefit is worth the wait? For us small PI's its seems a shame but then should we all be looking at the bigger picture and welcoming this? Or am I talking SH1t!!! This dip is pretty weak. Level 2 showing only 26 trades today and this price drop has come about with the sale of only 20 thousand shares................this is chicken feed....................liquidity in the share is low thus this effect...... Keep the faith and get your dancing shoes on for the 70's coming this way soon!! GL all!! Mrs T ;-))

On not a huge amount of trades...............not much liquidity floating around in these so demand will be forcing the price back North where it should be! Agree! in current climate that statement is as good as can be expected..........maybe the City were expecting better however looking at the volumes I would be surprised if this one isn't having the ars* shorted out of it. A strong, well run company with a good set of books..... Mrs T ;-))

After consideration of the books and earning per share over the past 3 years and allowing for deductions I predict a buy out of 34.1p Mrs T ;-))
