The EU regulator has now suggested that insurance companies in the block suspend or delay dividends.

This is going the same way as the banks

Some big short positions on L&G based on their bond exposure and possible defaults - L&G have said their capital buffers are sufficient to cover this but the shorters think otherwise - Hope they get wiped out albeit at the moment they're cleaning up

Also doesn't help when Goldman change their target from 285 to 175

Me too Lambcurry - I only invest for divident income. 60% of my investments are with Lloyds, HSBC, GSK, LGEN, Aviva & RDSB - The rest is in Investment Trusts. If LGEN & Aviva stop divs.....

Yes it's immoral for normal people to now fund the capitisation of the banks - what happened to the buffers they were forced to build?

And I fear insurance will be next

Cutting dividends that I and other pensioners rely on for income is immoral. Why should pensioners be the one's who prop up the banks this time?????

To make matters worse two of my larger holdings Lloyds and HSBC have lost close to 50% combined value. My retirement SIPP portfolio wasn't massive anyway, but was big enough to pay me c. £200 a month in dividend income, now I can't even sell investments to fund income.

The supply / demand double whammy we are in will last for quite some time. The recession / depression that follows the pandemic could last for years. It will be carnage for lots of weaker businesses and some good one's - Let's just hope we fall in the latter

Bloomberg reported last week that oil needs to trade <$20 for a sustained period before equalising - As Therapist said.....

This board isn't just for long term holders is it?

I still have my long term holding, not as many as some on here but it's in the hundreds of thousands (shares not £) and I'm hurting badly.

But recently I have bought and sold smaller tranches and will continue to do so to try and recoup some of my substantial paper losses.

Shell still buying it's own shares back - Must bode well for the dividend being maintained
