Read GP's article on the sister-cities, was more interested in the Chinese promise of $24 billion, mainly in credits. You need a lot of credit to excavate a coal mine and then sit two/ three power stations on top.
Lets hope that is where some of this credit is destined.

Fusion - you are ignoring Bangla's near neighbours, India and Pakistan.
They are both flat out bringing online coal fired powerplants, in the case of Pakistan. with massive technical and financial assistance from Bejing.
At the weekend there were the stories in the press (side-stepping the environmental Norilsk disaster) of how India is receiving coal from Arctic Siberia, such is their demand for coal both thermal and coking.
There is an operating window of maybe 30 years for Bangladesh to use coal for power generation. It's their own coal, it would be a little foolhardy to pass up the opportunity.

It's 450MW solar and 50MW wind - half a billion dollars....lot of money. 3GW was just a political throwaway line - Dhaka wants 3GW solar in xxx years.
But - nothing is certain at this point and it could impact on the Phulbari decision or be a sop to the environmentalists.

The key 'prime-movers here are the Chinese Sino/Hydro negotiators and Nasrul Hamid and his team. He will be keeping Hasina fully briefed on any discussions.
Remember, this is only one project of many, so whilst it is important to us, it may not be quite such a priority to the Bangladesh government.
Getting it on the B&R Initiative is a pre-cursor to a deal, but $12.5 billion is a big commitment. Lets hope the numbers and the terms, all stack up.

On a general note, we must be close to some sort of resolution and I would be ecstatic to get 100p / share and exit.
My concern is the early morning RNS where a bid is made for the company and 'it is at a premium of 70% to the closing price on such and such a date'.
That would be a classic AIM con (ie. robbed) and we would probably end up with about 30p / share. With such a heavy bias towards major shareholders, that sort of scenario could be pushed through

Angus - I guess it will be, to a large extent, decided by her advisers. 12.5 billion dollars is a huge amount of money and debt. But, as I have mentioned on numerous occasions, the other major infrastructure projects are mired in delays, cost over-runs and general ineptitude by the Banglas.
Our (Bangla) own coal, mine-mouth power of 6000MW, jobs, taxes, GDP growth and all using someone else's dosh - very appealing situation to be in.
