It’s very simple - you can choose to believe the leading experts in the field who are talking about the Synairgen trial, in the national news, and choose to believe big pharma companies who say they’ve been having success combining interferon beta along with their drugs to try to fight the virus.....

Or you can believe some twonk on this messageboard who changes his opinion more than his underwear!

Thanks gggg21 - word is spreading and high profile people are starting to cite this as a solution.
Even if there is a seller delaying a rise presently, this kind of exposure should mean they get overwhelmed in short order, and then rises to reflect the potential.

I agree there's no need to bring in AZN to this......but it's no sadder or suspicious than you scaremongering whenever you're not holding :p

I know it's got lots of complicated words in, but do try to read the link/quote I posted below and, if you don't understand why it's interesting, I'll spell it out again:
- SYNAIRGEN HOLD THE PATENTS FOR INHALED INTERFERON BETA (ALSO CALLED IFN-BETA, or IFN-B, OR IFN-ß)
- INHALATION MEANS YOU CAN LIKELY DELIVER HIGHER DOSES TO LUNGS MORE SAFELY THAN INJECTING TO CIRCULATE ROUND WHOLE BODY
- INHALATION IS FAR EASIER AND ANYONE CAN DO IT THEMSELVES VIA AN INHALER RATHER THAN NEEDING A DOCTOR TO INJECT IT
- ONE OF THE LEADING DRUGS BY MAJOR PHARMA (REMDESIVIR) WORKED BETTER WHEN COMBINED WITH IFN-B IN THEIR STUDY
- ONE OF THE OTHER LEADING DRUGS COMBINED WITH IFN-B ALSO IMPROVED THINGS (LOPINAVIR/RITONAVIR)

So not only are SNG going to be doing a study about IFN-B...it's already being used in tests around the world with some positive effects reported...and SNG likely have the easiest to distribute, easiest to administer, and likley most effective (due to ability to dose higher) form.

Nothing is guaranteed but today's news and other emerging research/articles is looking very exciting for this.

Lopinavir/ritonavir

Unconfirmed media reports from China reported lopinavir/ritonavir to be effective for COVID-19 treatment. A press release by AbbVie indicated that Chinese clinical information was not accessible to the company, so accuracy has not been confirmed. AbbVie is working with global health authorities to determine efficacy and safety of lopinavir/ritonavir for the treatment of COVID-19. [39] A combination of lopinavir/ritonavir PLUS IFNb TREATMENT improved clinical parameters in marmosets and mice infected with MERS-CoV. [37]"

And SNG has the patents on inhaled delivery of IFNb which would allow the greatest doses of the drug to the problem area.

Think about it......they already know IFNb is improving things with both of the current leading drugs proposed to treat COVID-19........

You say nothing else could explain it......however I've heard that endlessly on this share and thus far it's always been wrong.

Each time this pulled back on all the recent rises, many thought it was over, and then it went on to rise more later.

It's simply the case that PIs often sell.

If you think about it, most of the people paying attention to the news, at 8am would be the existing holders, rather than people who'd not heard of it, and profit taking from them could easily squash a rise, before buying comes in later days/weeks.

If you were waiting to buy.....wouldn't you want to wait for as much profit taking as possible? Personally I've taken a batch and am now watching to see if I can get another bargain batch if people worrying about nothing help provide such an opportunity. Ultimately the news was massive and that trumps everything.

There aren't really any free options (or not anymore). ADVFN are alright but a right pain in the backside to cancel.
I wouldn't say L2 is worth it personally.
You can see the spread on IG which is near enough (without paying anything).

Rogerthatsir: The fact is, firstly, COVID-19 is not a flu, and SNG are not (to any public knowledge) developing a "COVID-19 drug", or trying to.
What they do have is an inhaled version of interferon beta (a relatively well known substance - to some degree). Essentially us health people make enough of it and it helps the body's defences fight off a virus. They want to show that in people with health problems (like COPD), who don't make enough of it, that inhaling it can help restore the body's ability to fight off a virus. That's it in a nutshell.
There's huge potential here (hence I've been here for ages) but imo it's less to do with the coronavirus and more to do with the intended purpose of the study (lots of reasons I think that should be considered a unlikely bonus - but has obviously helped shift the spotlight here).

Yeah, it's quite often hard to get shares in this, I've been saying for a while I believe the brokers are probably net short of shares, following recent rises, and that's probably still true. If not, I certainly don't think they've got many, that's for sure.

If it helps Kiwi, you may find you have better luck trying to buy in blocks related to the normal market size (10k). For example I find I often get significantly different quote prices for 10,000 shares versus 10,001 shares. So I tend to request the quote for the amount I want and then check what they're offering at the 10,000 shares level. I've even seen them offer a better quote for a larger amount than smaller amount once. So you've got to be prepared for oddities! I can usually get quotes via IG just FYI - they seem to be better than most brokers who people regularly say they can't buy with.

(Just to correct myself - I should have said inhaled interferon beta - that being the key - delivering to the point required)

That's the good thing about this company.
It's been so far off the radar for many, for a long time, that the potential pool of investors is massive, compared to most AIM shares.
In fact it's been so quiet that I've generally been talking to myself or telling destitute to cheer up for much of the past year or two ;)

(With the footnote that once people start to actually dig into what they're trialling here, they should start to understand the massive potential, i.e. if they can show a well understood thing like interferon-beta can treat, as well as help prevent, viral infections, in at risk groups - the market would obviously be massive. Stop over-prescribing antibiotics, that don't work for viruses, and prescribe this, which helps your patient, would seem a relatively easy sell to any GP/doctor/Trust/NHS/Government )
