Porky; I’m certainly no mouthpiece for VAL; just a retail shareholder, and I’ve pretty much comprehensively offered my opinion about much of this. But I would have a stab at the below, in brief:
1. In that arena, it’s very common to see “new” groups founded, to take 3-4 compounds forward, and revolving around a team who will already be very active in the field. Like the VAL SPV model for new compounds, they insulate one compound, or a group of compounds, into a stand-alone company/vehicle. This minimises risk and keeps projects separate and “clean”. Hence why it looks like a "start-up", but in reality, it doesn't hold much similarity.
2. Yes – this is him; I believe Suzy has clarified this.
3. The only way that retail investors would get this opportunity is when some of them list – which the can do for projects like this – on the NASDAQ, for example. They’ll want 10’s millions, fairly quickly, which is impracticable without sourced private funding, or the IPO route.
4. I’d imagine that they will use private consultants as study monitors etc, using a clinical Contract Research Lab. to run the studies/trials. I’d imagine that VAL will be providing new updates to them, for example, the PYC, and the Japanese 301, data – exposure predictions, pharmacokinetics etc...– as and when it arrives.
5. I’d hazard about 10 million initially – although a question for Suzy – definitely. I’d imagine though, that there will be clauses to preclude advancing it in the event that milestones were not honoured. VAL are good at contracts.
6. Question for Suzy.
7. Plan B in place would realistically be to “place”, but they sound extremely confident that this won’t be needed next year. Can’t say that for many AIMs.
8. Question for Suzy. I’d personally hardly call it a back door deal though, knowing the characters involved.
9. I’d imagine other interest is earlier stage. But this is standard. Imagine trying to buy a house and paying for the survey. Would you want to get gazumped at the last minute? No; you’d have a clause agreement in, to ensure that you could align your ducks without fear of wastage.
What I would say though is that you really need to unmute your mike and camera, at the next QandA, and ask in person. You can’t really expect Suzy to be writing questions around BB posts.
All the best.
