KPMAN - Yes, so no definite on the Russia deal for months. The markets rebound over the next few weeks and this will rocket.

Looking at the trades at 13.30 it seems the shorts are covering before the US markets open.

Picket - Put it this was , either side will not be announcing any further tariffs and may even suspend any advertised one whilst coming up and during these initial talks. Just not the way negotiation are done.

So we could see a very quiet period.

I hope it also encourages other countries who are locking horns with the US, like Turkey, to start background negotiations.

Picket - Low level talks are where all the work and negotiation gets done and then they hand the final product over to the political show ponies to sign crap infront of the cameras.

My guess is that they will go well and by 1st October - President Trump and Xi Jinping will be all smiles and handshakes on the White House lawn having 'come to an agreement' in a one hour meeting/dinner.

I think they will be called RIO TINTO long before then.

I think they are really fighting this at the moment but I think with the vitals looking good and the US futures looking healthier then this afternoon should blow them out.

uncertain - Good call though , sneaked just over the line at 547 last night.

I think the market will drive this now. People are still , in general, a little apprehensive and it is low August after all , so volumes are naturally depressed. There trade talks should calm the markets over the next few days and start to restore some confidence. I can see this moving back quite strongly over the next couple of weeks.

With numbers like these, you can now see why the BoD were comfortable with the Russia deal.

Harrian - The US dollar has calmed down overnight on the announcement of new talks with china at the end of the month. Which should see a respite in hostilities. Asia markets seem to be finishing around evens , so no turbulence there. Once the 'talks' news stats to trickle down I think we could see the markets do well today.

Hopefully now a few days of upward movement now.

After the market inspired crash and recent confidence wobbles, I do hope we see 100p go back on this baby today (for starters)

DT - Personally mate, the DOW would have gone up wether Trump was there or not. Nothing he has done has really underpinned he US economy but it's made Jim Bob in the rust belt feel like he's 'kicking foreign ass'

When they start to realise that many of the cheap parts they use in US industry come from abroad and when other foreign good go up because the dollar is so strong then they will look to the white house.

Trump prides himself as 'the businessman running the company' and not a sharp suited untrustworthy politician.

If the world economy takes a bath he'll be impeached and jailed. Especially if he took these decision himself.
