Some interesting omissions in the buying RNS on Friday which could (and I say this highly sceptically) that there could be a schism surrounding the purchase, some calling the market reaction correctly based on the caustic reception from the analysts call earlier in the year when the announced they were looking at it.

Interesting if there are any departures in the coming weeks.

Even with a CEO buy there are a number of types of RNS they are allowed to release. I think the BoD are on holiday, so are probably struggling to get a quorum of consensus.

shakhtar - Andrew Southam was paid £2.5m last year. Buying only £50k (way less than a lot of people in this stock) was, I though, a little insulting keeping in mind that he managed to obtain a incredible price due in part to his own lack of communication skills.

As for Mr.Kim, well perhaps a buyback/takeover is what KAZ now needs as, based on today (Good Asia, Good Copper) it's not going to be the market that will pick up the pieces.

The BoD have become complacent and stodgy (most coming up to retirement age) and I think the analysts have rewarded them accordingly.

Chesh - I sold out around 8k this morning. This isn't going to be as 'binary' as OEX are making out. Also, I think we may get some news before the 4th September that this is going to be challenged. Keep in mind it government owned like the courts. Nothing in India goes smoothly.

Have far down the road have they gone. When you make an 'offer' for a house, you don't have to pay much of anything to back out, even if the offer is accepted. Even commercially, until the deal is reviewed by legal teams there and any assessments done (surveys) to ratify what is being sold is what they are getting then, one again, no money has to be handed over. Maybe a small retainer in lieu of exchange.

This is my problem so far. Is the decision reversible if some issue raises or the BoD feel the climate is the wrong time (60% drop should have told them that).

Rastuss - Thanks for repeating my email but I think you've failed to understand how bigger companies work.

Often they will go in a bigger riskier project with a 'junior' partner to offset said risk. Also, if things go very well then they can take control by merely buying the junior partner and not getting into some power struggle. Also, you may find that Abramovich and friends were asking for far higher and larger companies walked away.

RIO has stated quite clearly that it thinks it is behind the curve with regard to copper and cobalt and needs a quick foot up. Well there is a great synergy here for them.

The decision is probably not due until around Easter next year. All I want to know is more details about the conditional aspects i.e have they paid over cash yet but assessment and what is the penalty for walking away etc etc.

They could actually release a 'explanatory' RNS now without regulatory scrutiny as they have already announced the deal.

Auson - There seemed to be quite a bit of short covering going on last night.

As you can see from the short report (all above 0.5% level) KAZ has nothing significant. But it doesn't prevent small teams skimming the declaration level and creating problems.

Doesn't seem to be as hard hit today, things might start to improve.

We wil not get an RNS certainly this week unless there is a 'surprise' as the CEO bought yesterday so cannot be privy to anymore information.

Best thing that can happen now is either the deal gets suspended or someone like RIO Tinto comes in as a partner. Not beyond the realms of fantasy as we know they are looking and this is a very big copper play.

Wilt - Not sure if there is any risk of that here as their results were excellent. Moreover that without the deal RIO or the Chinese could have been likely suitors (may still be as we know China like to play the long game).

UBS said Baimskaya "could be transformational for KAZ" but it is long dated and execution risks and country risks "are elevated", meaning even after the share price correction analysts stay at a 'neutral' rating.

I think this sums it up. That said I think this selling has been way over done and is more indicative of the time of year than anything else.
