Basically, a 25% rule applies to the maximum number of shares (as a percentage) of the total paid up capital.. that a buy back can purchase..
Also the 25% rule applies to the time frame in which they purchase those shares.. Example.. If they completed a buy back of 25% (the max) by September 2025 and then agree another buy back.. they can't start the new round of buying until the next financial year..
In regards to the 'limit' of the number of shares that a the company buy back in any given trading day... the only real limit is the maximum of 25%.. obviously a company trying to buy 25% of its paid up capital in a single trading day.. might upset the market somewhat so it is spread out over a given time frame.. but theoretically they could buy them all back, up to a maximum of 25%, in a single day.
