......short termism springs to mind.....These two were at the helm of Chubb Plc.....the worlds biggest locks company Yale/Union/Chubb.....when they decided to flog it to one of its largest foreign rivals Swedens Assa Abloy for £700m.....Instead of investing the proceeds in acquiring Securicor to make sub scale Chubb the world number one Security business....they instead returned the money to themselves and investors.....Invensys is running along similar lines....sold its jewell in the crown British based rail signalling business to foreign rival Siemens for £1.7b.....and invested none of the proceeds in its remaining control business.....Rudd and Carr are asset strippers formost.....both are incapable of building a focused world class UK business.....and both do this country a great dis service A) by running great Britsh companys as cash cows.....B) by not investing in the future.....C) by selling out to foreign rivals.....Shamefull behaviour.....Reg

.....cheers mate.....News yesterday BAe are not going ahead with £70m US ship dockyard purchase....is great news....I think this move is a precursor to BAe divestment of Naval Systems.....which could be to split between Rolls and Babcock....Reg

....BAe are involved in too many aerospace programmes....where they are effectively junior partners....ie making parts for others....ie Eurofighter 33% share....JS35 15% share....missiles....avionics....This is a nightmare to engineer/manufacture efficiently....and unwheeldy to market....Remedy....I would buy EADs Cassidian division....to effectively control the Eurofighter programme....with it....exclusive sales and marketing of Hawker Typhoon and future carrier based Hawker Swordfish....In future programmes BAe should endeavour to be the prime contractor....with sole marketing rights for the said product.....ie like Rolls Royce.....Reg

.....Its well known in the industry.....JCB would like to manufacture 4-16 ton commercial trucks....possibly at the massive now closed ex Creda cooker plant in Staffordshire....JCB entering the market British commercial vehicle manufacturers Bedford/Commer-Renualt/Volvo vacated 20 years ago with the loss of 5000 British jobs.....What better in my opinion than to award the British army 4 ton truck contract to JCB.....allowing JCB to develop a truck chassis/cab both for military and civilian use.....Reg

.....Britain needs trains.....British built trains.....HS2....Intercity.....Tyne and Wear Metro....Bombardier are the world number one train manufacturer...and the only significant UK manufacturer of trains....BAe/Bombardier would be world number three in aircraft manufacture....number one in train manufacture....number two in Cyber...All the new company needs to do is invest heavily in the above areas of leading competency to be a world beater.....this is not rocket science.....look at Rolls....JCB......JLR.....Dyson.....ARM.....Reckitt.....Invest and win....Don't invest (short termism) and loose....ie Williams, Hanson, BTR, Mitchells & Butler, Cadbury.....where are they now?....Mr Carr are you listening?....simples Reg

......what do BAe and Williams Holdings have in common?....Answer they are both conglomerates with large pension deficets......Rudd and Carr split Williams Holdings into two companies ie Chubb(Union Yale locks/safes/Security Services).....and.....Kidde(Electronic Alarms/Fire protection).....What investors did not know at the time was the ticking time bomb within the Chubb business.....Chubb Plc.....sold half of itself (Union Yale)....to foreign rival Assa Abloy for £700m.....then paid all this money to shareholders as a special dividend.....This left the rump of Chubb PLC....Security Services....sub scale and with all the Williams Holdings pension liabilities....This all came out when UTC acquired the rest of Chubb for peanuts.....much to honest shareholders disgust.....Reg
