......Bombardier the worlds No.3 civil aircraft manufacturer yesturday won a $4 billion aircraft order for 43 of their new 130 seat composit C series jet airliners. A quarter of which are manufactured here in the UK at Short Bros in Belfast employing 5000 people. Bombardier are also Britains biggest train builder based in Derby employing 1500 people....think of HS2 double decker trains....BAe should sell Naval Systems to either Rolls Royce or Babcock....Land Systems to JCB....stop this short sighted share buy back.....and merge with Bombardier....Reg

.....British and Canadian Governments may be brokering this deal.....Bombardier is also Britains last and only train manufacturer employing 1500 in Derby.....and employs over 5000 people making a third of its corporate/business/jetliners in Northern Ireland....Reg

......would be a perfect match.....both companies have similar market capitalisations around £10 Billion....together they would be formidable competitor in both military and cival aerospace....world number one in trains....Company would be a dual listed Anglo/Candian venture....Bombardier is 51% controlled by Beaudoin family....I feel both companies might be ready to do a deal now to secure their long term futures.....I say bring it on....Reg

.....priggish small minded thanks.....Im mearly stating where BAe has stegically gone wrong in past and where we stand today.....making some valid helpful suggestions for a plan B.....You sir appear wedded to plan A option nothing else....namely BAe ultimately having a 30% share in Franco/German political whim EADs combination.....potentially selling 50,000 UK jobs down the river....BAE plan B options:...deals with or three way merger with Bombardier and Finmaccanica.....selling paerts Land Defence to JCB, Babcock.....or do swap deal with General Dynamics for its Jetstream unit....Rolls Royce, Babcock to aquire Naval Systems....Rolls Royce possibly spinning off its naval division in future to form Vickers Plc....We could merge with Rolls Royce....which personnally I am not in favour of....or revearse into GKN....and keep its well respected management team....Reg

......want EADs all for themselves....The French have effective Airbus HQ....buying up many of its British based suppliers.....Dowty, Flight Simulation, Contour, Racal....they persist on keeping Dassault at arms length from their German EADs partners.....why because they dont want the Germans to get hold of its military technology....thus having an equal relationship in aerospace....Does BAe (Britain) really want to place its trust in EADs with Captain Holland and Navigator Frau Mirkel at the controls.....I say lets find another way which protects Britaind national interest....Reg

.....sell Land Systems.....to General Dynamics....in exchange for Jetstream....they have a super new business jet about to be approved by the American aviation authorities fully developed sure winner....then get on board Bombardiers new fully developed 140 seat composit C series jet airliner.....with the latest geared fan engines....another winner.....BAe management must move quickly.....We can always come back to Airbus....but with a much stronger hand next time.....Reg

......other than EADs.....eg.....Bombardier, Rockwell, Finmaccania.....asset swop deal with General Dynamics ie Land Defence for Gulfstream....merger with Rolls Royce....which I dont personally favour.....Rolls is a focused independent business....merging with one of its major airframe customers ie BAe, EADs, Boeing, Bombardier.....would be a strategic mistake....Rolls would only merge with another airframe manufacturer....if GE bought Boeing....Rolls buying Alsthom Power Generation unit, Agrekko or Cummins would be a more sensible move....Reg
