I actually took early retirement in my early forties but got bored after six months. I work because I want to - not because I need to - and it helps fill the time before my other half retires. He's not planning to retire for another 7 years.

Why? GPs are actually dealing with more patients than pre-Covid. And people have always been able to go for face to face appointments if they were actually required. But what Covid demonstrated was in many cases they aren't...

Remote consultations are, for many people, a good thing. I have pompholyx. When it flared up I used to have to book an appointment and take time off work to traipse over the the GP practice, simply so they could look at it and give me a prescription. Now I just take a photo of my hands, text it to them and the prescription is sent direct to the pharmacy for me to pick up.

There has been attempts to introduce telemedicine in the UK for years, with resistance from clinicians. One thing Covid has done is show not only is it possible to do it safely but to do it at scale. And not just in primary care.

Hospitals are now required to offer patients the option of non-face to face consultations and follow ups, where clinically possible. Patients love it! We're now seeing more patients virtually in some specialities than face to face.

There will always be a need for face to face consultations (and those have continued during Covid despite what the gutter press might claim) but the last 18 months has seen a sea change in the way that healthcare can be be delivered with more flexibility for patients and we won't see a full scale return to pre-pandemic practice. Some of the changes are here to stay.

I'm still confident in my investment, as I am in this for the long term - rather than trying to trade this like some of the doomsayers in here.

Let's look at where we are:
- cases are rising, particularly amongst the young.
- the booster vaccination programme has been pushed back due to vaccine supply issues.
- we've got further variants of interest/concern emerging.

This is not over by a long chalk (as I've pointed out before the average length of recent pandemics has been 4 years). Although the Bloviating Ar$ehole in No 10 may have got bored of Covid, it's not going away and it's effects are beginning to bite on the NHS again (we had A&E patients being kept outside in the ambulance bay at Addenbrookes this weekend).

The government have been distracted by Johnson's trip to the US and by the fuel shortages but they're going to have to step up and deal with Covid again very soon.

We know that ODX is manufacturing, as well as cassetting and pouching under the government contract. We have been getting orders and further orders will come, particularly once FDA and EU approval happens. And I expect that to be relatively soon...

The share price will bounce about, given current market nervousness on a range of issues, but that just gives an opportunity for value to transfer from the impatient to the patient (to misquote Warren Buffett).

Just to clarify:

The first of these is amendments to an extant procurement process, where both the Expression of Interest and Tender Opening Dates are being amended (I note they don't appear to be amending the Tender Closing Date). At a guess, they're either:

- short on EOIs (which in itself would be interesting but not unsurprising)
- wanting to make changes to the draft tender documents

Basically, this is them increasing the potential value of the framework itself. This could reflect a number of things:

- the move from PCR led to LFD led testing
- underestimation of demand at the initial procurement stage
- increase in costs
- they could be padding the framework to ensure funds are allocated to avoid clawback by the Treasury*

What it is unlikely to reflect directly is any shift from external to domestic supply - as the framework is open to external suppliers.

It also doesn't mean that Contracts already awarded under the Framework will also be inflated (that wouldn't be lawful). It does mean that further contract could be awarded however...

*Basically, a significant chunk of the money awarded for Covid procurements to date hasn't actually been spent. The Treasury is threatening to clawback money which hasn't been allocated, so departments are trying to allocate it where they can. Some of it may be 'lodged' on one procurement now and then shifted to other expenditure in due course, so we can't assume that these large increases are here to stay. These values are the theoretical maximums allocated for this expenditure - not guarantees of expenditure.

Who we are cassetting and pouching for at the moment is somewhat irrelevant.

The key thing is which other tests will be approved for home use that we may be involved in manufacturing.

If you think it, then how about explaining why you believe the opening hours of the US stock market are relevant to:

(a) a private company (Mologic)
(b) a company that's only listed on the London Stock Exchange (ODX)

Not a business man? He's the chief executive of a listed company, and he's got a track history in the field. I'd suggest he's more of a 'business man' than many on here.

There's a big difference between Mologic and ODX (which I hope an informed investor would understand). Mologic is a private company - ODX is a public company. Any takeover of ODX would be subject to shareholder approval and the board could only support it if they felt it was in the best interests of shareholders - it's irrelevant if it would be in the interests of "the poorest in the world".
