I understand economics perfectly well. The US runs a deficit of some $235bn, that means they import far more than they export. Their largest export by some margin is refined petroleum which is a resource that the world needs and wants. Nobody is going to tariff that.

After that it's aircraft and spacecraft, again something the world cannot make but wants. Then of course there is arms. Ditto.
