Consolidation - real experience15 May 2025 14:52
Hi all - thought I would share a real experience of consolidation that happened to me (and any other 88E shareholders this week). I do so to help manage expectation only as I firmly believe that consolidation for GGP will be on a different scale and outcome than for 88E.
For a start 88E’s SP was suspended at .000575 and a 25 to 1 consolidation conducted 2-3 days ago. As expected my shareholding reduced by a 25th of what it was and I therefore waited to see the SP multiply upwards by 25 times to 1.4375p - you can see why I say the scale for GGP is much different to 88E. However and here is the eyebrow raiser, the SP at no point rose to 1.4375p either on the day or in the couple of days since. It only ever hit a top price of 1.25p which is only a 21.74 times (not 25 times even though my shareholding is now a 25th of what it was). Of course I queried this with HL Technical Team and got a response that basically said that the prevailing market dictates the SP irrespective of consolidation.
I post this, not to scare the bejeezus out of anyone, but merely to manage expectation. So whilst I am thoroughly convinced we will all see our GGP shareholdings reduced by a 20th, please be aware that it is the market that dictates whether the SP goes up by a commensurate 20 times. The truth is it might be less or it might actually be more, we will not know until it is completed.
For perspective 88E is classed as a “dog” of a share and indeed their reasons for consolidation is much more likely to be for even more equity raises to keep their O&G explorations going - their SP at time of writing is just over a penny so has slid downwards ever since consolidating. I do NOT believe GGP’s reasons for consolidating are for the reasons of survival like 88E’s. I also believe that the ASX cross listing is the main reason in order to capture even more investment (II & PI) - 88E’s reasons were not for any cross listing. However information is king and if this just helps give firsthand knowledge of experiencing a recent consolidation then here you have it. We just have to wait and see how this consolidation for GGP pans out, which I expect to be very positive - VGLA 👍
