S7 It's all in the RNS wording. In the FCA RNS, there's no guaranteed minimum other than engineering milestone payments but quotes A$6 million (milestone payments?) and probably a GM type agreement. And then in the other RNS, there is always a minimum but in Ford's case (F150 only?) it states over A$50 million. It sounds like it's in all F150s to start with and giving it a lot of wiggle room, reasons known only to SEE and Ford. Otherwise, the RNS would be similar to the FCA one.

SEE states only the contract has potentially upside whereas Veoneer uses a multiplier of 4.8 on any auto contract value and SmartEye extend to include all models. So - Ford SEE value $50 million minimum Ford Veoneer value $50 x 4.8 = $240 million SmartEye value $20 x 6,000,000 x 5 = $600,000,000 (US) However for now, we're only aware its possibly the F150 of which 1.1 million are made so $110 million (US) which is roughly $150 million (AUS) or three times more than (at least ) $50 million. Total understatement and/or NDA gone too far!

Once the funding is sorted (whichever way it's done) let the RNS' roll. What was interesting about the trading update was, for SEE, the clarity of the update. SEE actually gave the number of RFQ's it was involved with or about to be. Usually, it would be very cryptic about such things. I suspect that SEE has a pretty good idea that it will win most if not all of the business it is going for. Otherwise the next trading update will be the longest mea culpa known... 'at the last update we stated we were in 6 RFQ's and potentially 3/4 more in the second half. All in all, we won one in the first half and doubt we win one in the second half'. That will make TFD seem like a great result. However, all the snippets of information available point to SEEs next update not as above.

Baxter I wouldn't do that, it could be detrimental to your health! Besides, SEE has already delivered one since the trading update so, also being pessimistic, it may announce only two RNS, three in total, but as long as they're two big ones, that would still be ok. Of course you could be ultra bearish and conclude SmartEye will win the other five but, RFQ wise, I don't think our paths cross often once it becomes clear what the OEM is looking for ie safety or convenience.

Using SmartEye methodology, if SEEs kit were to end up in all models, excluding Nissan, the 8 would represent approximately 55% of 2017 global production. With Nissan (who have ties with others) it would be 60%. The area that may give hope to others is China with around 30 million sales with the vast majority of those made solely for the domestic market. Geely, for example, makes around 1.3 million a year and all are sold domestically. As are those from the big players, four state owned producers. GM does have a 50/50 tie up though and foreign companies do sell in large quantities but nowhere near the local concerns numbers. But, yes, 55/60% would point to it being game over.

Maps The Tokyo Olympics is roughly 16 & 1/2 months away. Via the chip route it's estimated to take around 18 months from inception to production. Admittedly, the new Lexus may not hit the market at that point but even so if Toyota plans to launch sometime next year, as you say, Toyota better get its skates on. With that in mind, perhaps Toyota is one of the five remaining RFQ's to be decided in the first half. Even if it was just the Lexus, the minimum total contract value would be at least A$50 million, or A$9 million in FCA speak.

I think Nick indicated OEM's were conscious of cost in the latest interview. However, as you say, at present, there aren't that many choices. Semicast in his latest tweet also said price pressure in the safety sector was low but in the convenience sector (probably non-legislation areas, it was high. So, yes some pressure on price but manageable.

Terry I'd agree it could be a lot more and that the next few months are vital. It seems the market is, by and large, totally indifferent to DMS at the moment, being blinded by the AV spotlight and it will take something such as legislation and a few more DWs to wake it up. However, I don't think everyone is in the dark over SEE, certainly not Xilinx or the AV Titans and that at the first hint of a bid, others will join the fray and any bid short of SEEs real value will get short shrift from SEE. As Semicast said Ken and Jack are smart (occasionally careless maybe) and know the value of the company and won't sell it short. It could all change (SP) very quickly, we just need the news to flow, then it's off to the races.

Total annual worldwide sales of the 9 is around 55 million vehicles, SEE would have to find 17 million more to get the equipment market share of Mobileye and with more RFQ's this year SEE could get to 65% of the available market. £1 would be okay but it wouldn't surprise if it was more.
