-There has been an AWFULL lot of money made by those behind the scenes working this strategy, --as they have been able to have their cake and eat it, many times over.

-Firstly there is the obvious physical shorting of the stock, which has yielding huge returns.

-But i suspect the real money has been made on the Spread betting/Futures options, --and i don't want to bore you all here----so i'm hoping you have some knowledge of what's involved in these instruments.

-Obviously a PUT position has had a great return with a limited downside (just the value of the option), and could have been run in parallel with the shorting of the stock.

-But "Writing a Call" option would have given even greater returns-----and although this is not something for the amateurs, it is the obvious extension of the strategy-but requires huge back up, both financially and in stock availability.

-To join those dots up means asking some very very awkward questions, and the answers may not be to everybody's liking----so best not ask.

-With no institutional support at the moment, the market is revolving around positions held by PI's, and the large number of "spread bet/Futures" positions.

-Once the book is filled with enough taken positions, then it's ripe for a large squeeze.---All that is needed is a Spread bet /Futures outfit, to tie up with a MM and the job is easy, (plus of course it is made easier still by the use of scare tactics, to start and keep the ball rolling.

-Once a scare has been put out, and the first PI's begin to bite on it, then the MM comes into his own.

-Firstly the MM goes all round the rest of the other MM's and hits every bid (watch the AT trades), leaving himself short and the rest long.--------Then the PI sells start.
-But---instead of holding on to any sale, the MM in the loop, spreads every sale he encounters around the rest of the MM's (another round of AT trades.----they now start to offload this same stock-and another round of AT trades floods the mkt.

-Now as the SP is driven lower, the bite is on all those Spread Bet/Futures position.

-Margin calls, start to panic holders, and they start cutting those positions.

---Another round of AT sales,------- and the whole thing starts feeding on itself------------round and round and down and down, with no institutional buying to stop the cycle and put a proper level on the SP.

-Look at the posters who keep on saying "there is no buying", and the ones who are constantly flooding PI's with horror stories--and you can see who's involved.

-Only when the II's return to the mkt will this stop.

-The gearing on all futures instruments makes them a very dangerous vehicle, and there was talk of having them banned.--------but they're still here and being played with-------------------to me it's almost like SP rigging, but that's just my personal opinion.

Well it certainly looks like we have not had all of this quarters payment by the time the accounts were drawn up on 28Th.--so we may well finish up with $30 mill as cash in hand by the end of next week---what a way to start a new financial year.-

-Our running costs are stated as 500/- Euro a month (including salaries), so lets say £6 mill a year.-If we double that and keep back £12 mill ($16 mill ) as a reserve, then we go into the year, with all costs covered and $14 mill of "spare cash" sitting in the bank.

-Now add in the next financial year's quarterly payments of around $70 mill, and, with all our costs already covered, we will have something like $85 mill of "spare cash"------

-If SLE do return "50% of spare cash" to shareholders, that's enough for a whopping div to SH's and (around 6-7p ), and OF will still have $45 mill to play with.

I'm pretty sure that Dyani are restricted from selling shares they have been given as part of the GCM /Dyani deal, for six months. -That would mean that their next opportunity to sell will be in early August. - -They can of course sell any of the shares they receive as their monthly retainer, but from memory that is only about �20, 000 worth, so not the numbers we are seeing at present.

BlackSwan-------- how or even, why could we possibly have underwritten any shares--------Only the Stock mkt puts a future value on any shares and it would probably have been illegal for us to try and manipulate the SP in any way. - -the top and bottom of it is that ST decided to take SLE shares instead of the $57.5 mill Loan Notes. - -ST have the share Certificate in the back of one of their filling cabinets -some 80 odd mill shares.---------If those shares do not belong to ST, then why have they sold some of them ??? - -I'm sure that when this deal was done it will have been fully covered by both sets of Lawyers and i'm sure that when push comes to shove, we can easily prove the case. - -What is worrying is why or who has put ST up to bring this action in the first place. - -I feel a counter action coming on.
