What's happened to Randgold is what I was fearing might happen to Centamin. - The theft of the company achieved though the help from insiders and where insiders are amply rewarded. (Refer to posts in recent weeks) - It's why I was curious about the site visit. - I still am. - A lot hasn't made sense at Centamin for a while now and I still have my doubts about the explanations given re new guidance. - My suspicions were that something was taking place behind the scenes. - We'll see.

Above - RNS covering merger announcement. - It's control of gold-in-the-ground going forward I feel. - Note the tie-up with the Chinese. - I find that interesting, especially in view of China's ambitions re a gold-standard currency. - There's more to it than meets the eye I think.

Hi Tiger - Agree, a merger is not the same as a take-over and therefore no premium for RRS shareholders. - What is the rationale here? - Synergies and cost savings I would have thought. - No doubt we'll learn more in the coming days. - I must say, I like the idea of disgruntled shareholders retreating and throwing in their lot with Centamin. - I agree with your thinking. - We should soon know.
