Europe lower premarket ahead of Brexit deal deadline18 Dec 2020 07:45
European shares were slightly lower during premarket trading on Friday as the deadline for reaching a post-Brexit trade deal drew closer.
The European Parliament said that a deal must be reached by midnight on Sunday in order to hold a vote on it this year, however, Downing Street acknowledged earlier that a no-deal Brexit remains the "most likely outcome."
The DAX declined 0.11% at 8:00 am CET, while the CAC 40 decreased 0.13%. In London, the FTSE 100 was down 0.19% at the time. Meanwhile, the euro fell 0.08% against the dollar, buying 1.22532, as the pound lost 0.11% compared to the greenback, to go for 1.35464.
