As I understand it, the modifications to the Fc region (the tail) of the Mab allow either drugs to be delivered to the tumour or mediation with TCells close to the tumour to kill the tumour. As such, this is a breakthrough that is relevant to any Mab. It also boosts the avidity of the Mab.
So, for instance, take a CI Mab that blocks off a certain protein expressed on the surface of the tumour. This same Mab could also now be modified to provide a killing action. So it gives this Mab both blocking and killing potential.
I would have thought this will attract a great deal of interest. Is there anything like it already out there?
All the above is in addition to the 4 Glycans Mabs that Lindy's team have already developed.
