I don't know the guy obviously, so I go mainly on his presentations.
To me, they lack clarity and impact.
He always seems to me to be ill at ease.

In contrast Lindy's presentations, whilst she often starts a little nervously, she always warms to the task.
You know she is speaking from a great wealth of knowledge and experience.

I do think there is a case for saying that the ingenuity of the management does not measure up to that of the science produced by Lindy and her team.

It caught my eye because it is about CD4+ TCells becoming cytotoxic.

It sounds like James and his mates were using "Ipy" to add to the potency of the "surprising" CD4+ cytotoxic TCells.

There are 2 technologies involved here:
XCEPTOR and XPRESIDENT

XCEPTOR for discovering the targets
XPRESIDENT for validating the targets, whatever that means.

The 2 targets have been identified. I agree TF.
But it does sound like the collaboration is designed to find more targets.
Presumably more targets identified will result in more payments to Immatics but it wasn't specified.

These are people who go where the science takes them not where they are told to go.
"Cancer vaccines over my dead body" does not apply to them.

In the case of James Allison he freely admits he is not out to cure cancer. He is doing pure research into TCells.
As a by product he discovered "Ipy".
I had to laugh about his attempts to get big pharma interested in "Ipy".
