DC stands for Dendritic cell which in turn is a subset of APC - Antigen Presenting cells.
As the name suggests APC present antigens to passing TCells that have the TCRs (TCell receptors) for the specific antigen.
The TCells are activated by the APC/DC.

It would be interesting to know what would have happened if the situation were reversed. Nottingham had developed ChAdOx1 and Oxford Covidity.
I suspect both vaccines would have received funding.

I think is exactly as you said Knowlesi. The market is still awaiting news of funding. We are in limbo and IMO the SP will drift slowly down until that news arrives.

In a way, it doesn't matter if Scancell make no money at all from Covidity. If it works and works well, it would be a stunning validation of the Immunobody platform. Success in 2 unrelated diseases. We have talked in the past of Moditope becoming an industry on its own, but Immunobody could achieve a similar status over time.

I agree, but perhaps this particular pharma wants to make money from manufacturing and distributing a virus or viruses.
This same pharma may be making promises to many biotech companies developing vaccines. Making bets on many horses without actually parting with any money.

I just couldn't imagine Lindy going ahead with a vaccine with poor animal results.
She would find a way of improving the results before going into clinical trials.

One thing that always puzzled me about nanoparticles versus electroporation is that electroporation uses an electric field to open up cells to make entry easier for the vaccine.
As far as I know nano-delivery does not have this. But it does have other characteristics that electroporation does not have such as protecting the vaccine for much longer until it finds its target and attaching molecules to the surface of the nano-particle that can bind with the target.

It may be that the SCIB2 nanoparticles are fit for purpose for any Immunobody vaccine.
It's a DNA plasmid which is a tightly coiled circle.
Maybe these do not vary much in shape and size for different Immunobody accines

Well we haven't heard about the method of delivery yet.
Nanoparticles may be better but may require research to find the best nanoparticle. It is not necessarily the same as SCIB2 and that method of delivery is still unproven in clinical trials for Immunobody
So, in the interest of shortening the project as much as possible, Lindy may go with Ichor.

Lindy does seem to be well known and well respected amongst pharmas. They are less likely to give a damn that she is not an Oxford Uni prof.

I think the manufacture tie-up is certainly left field.

On funding, I can't think scientists are ignoring Scancell, after all the task force for vaccines is being jointly led by a Nottingham Uni professor. It must surely be the politicians that are putting all public money into Oxford Uni and Imperial.

It wouldn't surprise me if Scancell get fed up of waiting for government support and instead go for a research and development tie-up with their manufacturing partner or some other pharma. Lindy probably only wants a few mill to fund up to point where it goes into clinical trials. She has quoted 3 months from now if she receives sufficient funding. That is mid August.

From memory I seem to remember the median age for the SCIB1 trial was in the mid 60s.

A major pharma has agreed to the manufacture.
Immunobody has already gone through a clinical trial with no side effect and outstanding results.
The Oxford vaccine looks like a shot in the dark with the inconclusive results on monkeys.

How can the government still continue to ignore Scancell?

The Oxford vaccine did not appear to work in monkeys but I also guess that the numbers are not statistically significant.
However, it proved safe, so the study progressed to a phase 1 trial with humans.
It doesn't look too promising.

In contrast, the Sinovac trial did appear to work in monkeys but again the numbers are not statistically significant.
Again, it proved safe, so a phase 1 trial has started.

Ah, I think I see. So it is the imunobody vaccine that, will induce the TCell response that we are all familiar with but it will also induce a VNAb response.
