RE: UK Government - 1st steps to Gen 2/suite of vaccines7 Feb 2021 10:15
The UK effort on vaccines makes me proud to be British. :-)
This definitely augers well for government backing for Covidity should it reach the trial stage.
The cricket's not going too badly either.
I've done a bit more digging on this delivery method and come up with this article
https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/33575569.pdf
"We showed this GET
(GAG-binding enhanced transduction) system could deliver enzymes (Cre, neomycin
phosphotransferase), transcription factors (NANOG, MYOD), antibodies, native proteins
(Cytochrome-C), magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and nucleic acids (plasmid (p)DNA, modified
(mod)RNA and siRNA) at efficiencies of up to two-orders of magnitude higher than previously
reported in cell types considered hard to transduce, such as mouse embryonic stem cells
(mESCs), human ESCs (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)."
It seems to suggest that perhaps nanoparticles may not be involved in delivery. Maybe the delivery is via a conjugation of the DNA plasmid (Covidity) and the appropriate cell binding peptides.
If this delivery method proves to be successful, it may be another useful tool in the fight against Covid19 that could be applied to other vaccines too.
How's it going Scancell?
