Afren drilled the cores and these are the evidence that oil exists at multiple levels down the depth of the drill, after Afren collapsed Oyster then take control of Afrens drill results and core samples, but it takes years to actually get them, they then send them for independent analysis, who again confirm oil, at various levels.
However, other than throw away statement's of millions of barrels of oil, I haven't heard of a competent person's report detailing the hydrocarbons initially in place or associated recoverable volumes expected from the fields.
So my reading of the situation is yes there is oil, but how much? how much is recoverable? and most importantly at what cost to recover the stuff.
Based on this discovery being at an early stage and all of the above if my reading of the situation is correct needs to be proved up, then that's the investment case.
If its proven that there is large volumes of oil easily recoverable then sp here will rocket, but there is also the issue of funding to prove up the assets, also Gun is the minor partner.
Gunsynd, Northbay Capital and Subco are currently in discussions with parties regarding both financing and management of Subco. It has also been agreed that Gunsynd is entitled to board representation on Subco. The Company would like to reiterate that we are a minority shareholder, we do not have control, we are not the operator nor are we in a position to determine the timing of any news releases."
So that's the investment case here, HH rates this oil discovery due backing this opportunity twice, once here with Gun and also with Polemos, as others have said you pays your money and take your choice.
