RE: Bioscantech?21 Apr 2018 14:51
IMO there is a likelihood of one of two scenarios occurring - First - a commercial joining of Scancell and Biontech based on 1) the 'monetizing our assets' comment which was clear and unequivocal, and 2) the 'when' used in conjunction with the commercialisation of the Moditope collaboration with Biontech.
I've said it before, but while a 'when' corrected to 'if' is possibly just a mistake, it is an odd one to make and all the more strange that having corrected it CH didn't just go back to the line of 'that decision will be taken when the results of the trial are available and Biontech can decide where we go from there'. CH was (imo again) rattled by his faux pas, as if he had let the cat out of the back and was struggling to put it back in. That, to me, would be a monetizing of assets and a 'left field' one too, in contrast to the standard 'Scroggs Pharmaceuticals pays x million upfront for SCIB1 and will pay milestone of y and royalties of z percent on successful commercialisation.' With the 'left field Biontech' scenario the prospect of an ARM Holdings setup looms...?
2) The second scenario is that I am reading far too much into this, and Scancell's strong independent financial position will see the company carry on developing matters with full hold over the IP and see what develops with potential partners and collaborators. But somehow I favour option 1, and the fund raising of last week just covers all eventualities of some anticipated or crucial lab result appearing, not appearing or being delayed or whatever? A prudent move anyway at this point. Just an opinion anyway, so what says anyone else?
