Very true C7 - the awarding of any prize in the Grand Challenge will be the start for any science rather than the conclusion that many a prize-giving usually is. It is a no-dilutive funding springboard as Inanaco said earlier. I would like to think that if Scancell does not actually win, maybe Biontech and/or others will stump up funds independently to further the work (they are deeply interested - that is undeniable) or in the event of not securing Grand Challenge funding, will a separate deal be struck in any event? I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised. By November all the very distinguished parties involved will have invested a great deal of time effort and resources into getting Moditope to that stage. They are imo unlikely to leave it there, otherwise they would never have gone through all the effort involved in the selection and shortlisting process over the previous 12 months or however long it took to get to where they are today.

Me too! But the longer term also looks very very promising imo too. We shall see...

Also don't forget who is on board, and maybe more significantly which companies are on board in the Grand Challenge. Winning it would be excellent, but those companies' interest is not conditional on a win, so in that respect a win would be the icing on the cake. I somehow doubt that Ira Melman and co will walk away in disgust if Scancell only get second prize. As to what effect any success in the Grand Challenge might have on the sp, well it is anyone's guess - when you think CRUK backed a trial to the tune of about 5 million quid and it went almost unnoticed, but that's the way the markets are. If one individual had bought 5 million quids' worth of shares it would have made a large difference to the sp but would not have been anywhere near as useful in the longer term as th integral involvement of CRUK. I just like the way the biggest names in the area are getting involved, and as I said yesterday I am very relaxed about the whole thing - but of course in a deal could pop up at any time from anywhere as well. All good fun.

All excellent people when you research them, but two names stick out from a commercia potential point of view - Ira Mellman, Vice President of Genentech, and Ugur Sahin, MD of TRON and Co-Founder and CEO of BioNTech.
Of course the winners aren't known until the prizes are awarded, but with the sort of names that Lindy has got working under her guidance I do feel very content to wait for as long as it takes for this to take off, and with Genentech and BioNtech obviously interested, who knows what is going on behind the scenes. Never been more relaxed about the whole thing. So there.
