Rio Tinto in Rwanda? How many years is it going to take to build a mine, given that they just started exploring? Is that mine opening in 2035?

I find the thing about wanting to build battery factories hilarious. Ghana cannot even get the basics right, unskilled labour force, lack of know-how, lack of a reliable energy grid, lack of chemicals required, poor infrastructure and logistics. Not willing to give sufficient financial support to businesses who could potentially risk it there. For example, I read the other day that a Chinese business plans to build a battery plant in Portugal, costs of approx. EUR1.8bn, but the portuguese government will give EUR350m of financial benefits to this business. Could Ghana ever do that?

I am happy with the fact that KM is a straightforward chap and says things as they are; honesty is something that this company was lacking in recent times. Things might not be perfect but there seems to be a way forward

They are just trying their luck & trying to look like they are in charge. If we can get their share using debt financing, I don't see what the problem is

5toamillion, what were you expecting Piedmont/MergeCo to say to their shareholders? "Oh by the way, we are prioritising a project which is not ours over one the expansion of our own mine"? That would not go down very well

Its down to the BOD to find ways to squeeze Piedmont/MergeCo for the funds or kick them out by finding alternative ways to finance the project. I would even think there is a silver lining in the fact that Piedmont already owe us $6m, it increases the leverage to kick them out if needed

i am sure that lessons have been learnt from the past 12-18 months by nh and ah. they have learnt to keep their mouths shut and you would think that they are working in plan b, c and d for financing because its clear that piedmont cannot be trusted and are a piece of **** that cannot even pay their debts
