@ Rusty & thekenner - I have DVW which was nearly as dismal in Customer Relations and probably more boring than CRV. However I bought it for a reason and waited 18 months for that event to happen. Quite different businesses, but what we need to remember is that some significant money has been invested in CRV by individuals at a large premium to the current SP. Whilst some good news would be nice, I'm also happy to wait... GLA R

In my view it should do, as the medium to long term demand is forecast to grow significantly. But as we know European politicians are floundering around after the US election and Brexit. EZJ final results tomorrow. Any unexpected bad news could hit us due to the sheepish mentality of the markets at the moment. EZJ down 2% today....

My understanding is airlines get operators' licences depending on their country of origin defined by certain rules. For example Branson has never been able to sell more than 49% of Virgin otherwise the slots at Heathrow might be lost. Wizz has licences to operate in Europe because it is "EEA" owned. If this changed then my understanding is the licences are in doubt. EZJ has said it is negotiating licensing now to ensure it can still operate in the EU post Brexit. Ryanair seems to also have a requirement to be "EEA" owned. As you say how is it policed, and do others bother... Another broker upgrade today to £22.50 from memory..... If Wizz has low operating costs then although a price war will hurt, perhaps less so than the others. Huge growth forecast in the next 10 years. Again today very big buys reported late. Could be very interesting short-term. R

@ anon3 yes I agree impressive results giving good detail about revenues and costs, as well as the fuel hedge. What did you make of the restriction on share purchases by non-EEA holders, which has now been lifted? In my view all airlines were oversold after Brexit, especially Wizz, and we are yet to get back toward £20. These city guys need to get out more, and understand the huge future demand for low cost travel. I have also noticed over the last few days some very significant buys appearing as late trades after close. Is someone stake building?

@Just_My_Opinions - I keep reading that markets hate uncertainty. Whilst Heathrow looked to be the obvious choice,our PM like her predecessor could have delayed the decision, yet again, to avoid a split in the Tory party. In practice I think we all know Brexit will cause the split and we could all be back voting again on the 4th May 2017. Whilst of course there will be more competition, the forecasts for global growth in passenger numbers is pretty staggering. Read for example the Airbus website. In my opinion Virgin has always been a niche airline, but it gave cheap publicity to Branson for his other activities, which was a shrewd move. I believe the long-term winners are going to be the large well capitalised airlines, but I agree in the short-term with your analysis. However I also believe the post Brexit vote hammering of airline stocks has been overdone, and this view seems to be now supported on a daily basis by broker upgrades. I hold IAG, EZJ and WIZZ as short-term recovery stocks. DYOR GLA R

I still hold here but have added IAG and EZY. Not the best timing on EZY but my losses are reducing. Our SP seems to lag the others by a day, perhaps presenting a trading opportunity for the 3% guys. I can't be bothered IMHO all airline stocks have been oversold on unfounded Brexit and pound fears. HSBC has a particularly negative view, but so far their recommendations over the last year have proved to be out. Once the sheep start thinking for themselves we should see a recovery. R

I don't know as the MMs are very good at disguising trades, but this is the first day that we are seeing some half-decent trades for at least 10 days. Also the spread is down to 2.86% which is the lowest I have seen for a long time. Has there been a leak? About to hear some news? R

yes it appears that way. Would love to know Elliott's average buy price and whether they cover their costs. 25% is worth �152.5m. Anyway well done Steinhoff for out smarting them in my view.

Steinhoff has said the last offer was final, but I don't know if they have to be held to this under the takeover rules. If the offer is so low, why hasn't another bidder appeared? In my view Steinhoff may walk rather than panda to the likes of Elliott. I know they lost out twice before, but the high street is tricky and Poundland needs capital, which would be difficult to raise cheaply bearing in mind the previous share price crash. All my own opinions and please DYOR GLA

Interesting battle yes, very much so, but unlike Argentina, Steinhoff can/will will walk away, and I think they will, rather than up their bid, which I believe was final anyway. PLND was floated at far too high a price, and the current BoD has caved in twice... And to answer CBB's question, when/if Steinhoff walks we will briefly see £1, but PIs won't be able to buy in a this price. The best thing that can happen now for PIs is the deal concludes at 225p. All my opinion but is + 8% worth the risk of - 110% R

If Steinhoff walks away, to teach Elliott a well deserved lesson, then there could be an opportunity to get in sub £1. R

@Levante and then what may I ask? The BoD has basically admitted the company is worth no more that 222/225p per share, and they should know! If the bid fails and no other bids appear the SP will tank IMHO. DYA GLA R

It's been a tough year for tour operators trying to provide holidays in Europe's traditional destinations following a growing number of security alerts. Thomas Cook chief executive Peter Fankhauser tells the BBC how travel habits have changed - and says he did not expect a big impact on business from Brexit.

@uddinkas As I understand it the proposed takeover isn't "guaranteed" as Steinhoff may not reach the 75% level required as Elliot and perhaps others were/are buying shares in the hope of forcing an increased bid, which they have achieved but only very marginally and may actually be due to the dropping pound. The SP has dropped because Steinhoff has said that is their final offer. So if the deal doesn't happen there is a risk the SP will plummet unless another bidder then comes along. In my view the tiny gains staying in aren't worth the risk of seeing 150p again. That's why I sold on the day the offer was announced. The boss of Steinhoff is reported to be a very tough negotiator and the Board of PLND caved in very quickly... DYOR R

@thekenner yes more publicity was promised at the AGM, but we are in the holiday season, so it is probably better to wait until September for the big announcements. R
